JD LX-188 What\'s it worth

I'm getting ready to sell my JD LX-188 to buy a new <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.power-trac.com/>Power Trac</A>. I bought it in the spring of '97 and I would estimate it has 250-300 hours on it. It's in excellent condition. The local JD dealer tells me I should be able to get $2750 for it. Any TBN input on what a good LX-188 is going for?

Scott, I also have a LX-188 that I purchased in 1998. This is one tough machine.
JD's new version (I think it is a 279??) runs about $4800 in Raleigh, NC. Since ours are roughly 5 years old, I would be surprised if they would bring as much as the dealer told you, however, I hope he is correct. Please let me/us know what you end up getting. If you were a little closer to NC, I would consider buying yours.

I purchased a 2000 LX288 with a 42" C deck with mulcher kit for $2,275 on eBay last year. The tractor looked almost like new and was purported to have less than 100 hrs. on it. It ran without a hitch last season. The guy I bought it from must have purchased it at Roeper's auction earlier in the year since it had their metal tag on it yet. The same guy sold an LX279(l.c. version) in equivalent good shape for about the same $s just a bit later. My guess is your dealer's purposed price is a bit too "retail" to make a timely sale.

Sorry, I said the seller in my previous post purchased from Roeper's and this should have been Roeder's. They do have a web site with many low hr. lawn&garden tracors available, currently.

I agree that what the dealer told me is probably a bit more that I can expect to get. He also said that if I were trading it with them I'd probably get around $2050. So I expect maybe somewhere in between, maybe $2200-$2500. If you want to trade even for your BX I'll be happy to deliver it to NC./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

The web site is www.lawnpower.com. I see they are having an auction(in Iowa) April 28th with even a used Kubota or two. They do ship their lawntractors. Be sure to click on enter lawnpower at the bottom of the face page that come up to get to the lists of mowers and prices.

Thanks JeepGuy - looks like my estimate of $2200-$2500 is about in line with what they're getting. I'll advertise @ $2500 and see what happens.
