I'm looking at buying a JD LX277 42 inch mower with 225 hours 17 hp Kawasaki from the original owner(he bought in 2003) who has purchased a ZTR mower, and is selling the JD. He says it has been maintained and has no problems. What would be a price range? Thanks a lot.

Around $2000. Possibly more if it's in very nice shape. They were $4000 new.
I just sold my mint 110 hr LX279 (liquid cooled Kawasaki) with 42" deck to my sister and her husband for $2000. I think it was worth $2500-$2700, but gave them a deal 
On tractorhouse, the 277 ranges from about $1200 to $3600, with most pretty close to $2000. I've noticed that some of the dealers are a little out of reason, so the $2700-$3000 and up prices are kinda crazy...

I have a 2002 LX277 all wheel steer with about half that many hours and I thought I mowed a lot of grass. That guy really needed a zero turn! I paid$4250 for mine new, it is a very solid machine only thing I
would wish for on it would be a differential lock. Unless you are very hard on equipment you will get way more than a few years out of yours.

I checked my hour meter today I have 250 hours, that's a lot more than I thought I had. I had no issues other than regular maintenance looks almost as good as the day I bought it.
