My 2005 LX280 42c deck had a sever vibration and i ended up changing both spindles, belts and double pulley that runs off the motor and deck. All of the parts had some wear and the bearings were not smooth but after all of my attempts the vibration was still there. The PTO was the only thing left but to look at it when it was engaged it looked fine so i decided to mow my grass and send it to the dealer but if failed and i found the problem. The PTO pulley broke in half so i replaced it along with the belt because it shredded it when the pulley broke. After 2 weeks and $450 bucks it's fixed.I just wanted some one else out there NOT to have to spend an extra $250 bucks. The one thing i would like to add is that the tractor is very well maintained and is in a shed and has never hit a rock so i can't explain why a PTO would fail after only 280 hours.I know if i sent it to the dealer it would have cost much more than that so i guess it was worth doing it myself.
