Price Check JD pricing and discounts

Is it unreasonable to expect at least 10% off list when buying a tractor? I am trying to buy a 4200. I am assuming that the price that JD publishes on its web site is list price.

You should be able to get between 15-20%. I should be getting my tractor within 2 weeks, if the deal goes through as expected. Don't forget that JD is offering $1200 off the best deal you negotiate for the next few weeks at least. This has helped many who are interested in JD. Negotiate first, then go for the rebate. In summary, 10% is NOT enough. Good luck.

I am in Arizona and there are only three dealers in the entire state that I know of. One doesn't have any 4200s, the second said that 10% off was the discount (after stating that he didn't know anything about the JD discounts). I have yet to speak to the third although he has given me a price of list price minus $1200 which is the discount for the 4210. The discount for the 4200 should be $1700 with the FEL. I am getting kind of disgusted and am reconsidering Kubota, although I liked the JD better.

I was disgusted in my state, too, so am buying 350 miles away from home. If the deal goes through (I'm at the anxious part), it will be for an average 18% off list, NOT counting the rebate. We are still debating that. Don't be shy about checking elsewhere. Some dealers just don't get it. There are mixed opinions about buying far from home; consider all opinions. For me, the thousands in savings, plus warrantee justifies the decision. Prices vary considerably -- don't give up on JD yet, if it's what you really want. That said, you won't go wrong with Kubota, if that is your choice.

I would also suggest you visit your nearby states, if feasible, if you have your heart set on JD. I purchased my 4710 at 16% off MSRP not including a $1,000 rebate that I qualified for. Blurrybill is correct. It's reasonable to negotiate 15-20% off MSRP. Others here at TBN have done better than 20%. The fact you have only three dealers in your state does limit the JD competition and hence this is likely the reason these dealers will insist at selling near MSRP. This is unfortunate. But, do shop the other nearby states.....you may find there are a greater number of dealers to choose from.

No not yet. However I went to the JD web site and found a lot more dealers in the state than I thought existed. I have learned not to completely trust the yellow pages. Things are looking better, but very few dealers seem to know about the new discounts.

The 4710 will be delivered this Friday. I'm told it's all ready to be delivered but Mark suggests holding off delivery due to inclement weather we're having up here this week. Hopefully by Friday, things will clear up a bit. This weekend, weather permitting, I'll try it on some initial projects I have, take some pics, and try to post next week.

Ohhhh!!!.......Don't kid yourself. These dealers know about it but are just acting dumb. They will, if they think they can get away with it, just pocket the rebate for themselves. Read the JD Special Offers thread in this forum. Find an honest dealer who will acknowledge the rebate and are ready to give you something back in your pocket.
