JD push mowers

Does anyone have any experience with the JS46 i believe it is?

I need a push mower for in between my trees and sometimes i like to just walk it, get the exercise!

Are these good machines, or just a regular mower with a briggs engine strapped on?

Also, does john deere make a brush mower like the DR or billygoat brush mowers? In serious need of one of these machines but i cannot find one anywhere in canada.

Earlier this year I bought a JS45 with the front caster wheels, this had been replaced with the JS46 which doesn't have the caster wheels. If it were me I would see if the dealer can find you a leftover JS45. Once you get used to the caster wheels it is very easy to use, no tilting to turn while trimming. So far it seems to be a very good pushmower.

I have a DR trimmer mower that works OK but will tell you these things are not near as handy to operate as a normal handheld string trimmer. The only time mine gets much use is when neither the brushhog or riding mower wont fit and it has debris I am concerned may damage my equipment. Usually I can use a string trimmer to catch these areas since I need to trim around trees with it anyway. To the point my DR trimmer doesn't get a lot of use I could get by with out it 95% of my jobs.

The 46 is an OK push mower, but Honda has a better line currently. I wish I would not have sold my JX75!!! JD does offer walk behind rough cut mowers. I think they were marketed under the Lesco(?) name, but do appear on the website. My dealer said he had sold one and it was pretty nice. He does not have any in stock now.
