JD X304
Any ideas as where I may find a rear bagger for my new JD X304?
I just can't spend the $1000, the dealer wants.
No, I have not even used it yet, they just dropped it off at my home. They even put it in the shed for me. I wasn't home. Which was great due to it was raining. Great service!

Is it a 42"? I wouldn't think it would be that high w/o a power flow. Should be more like @ 500 or so.
No other source other than Deere.

John Deere sells only the power flow "system" for 48" and wider mowing decks. The "system" consists of a blower that mounts to the discharge chute opening on the deck and then gets driven by a new "stacked" pulley that gets mounted to the nearest mandrel in place of the existing pulley; a chute to connect the discharge from the blower to a grass catcher; finally the grass catcher itself that gets mounted to the rear of the tractor. Those systems cost in excess of a grand if you buy new from a Deere dealer. Your other choice is to "piece" it together with parts from E-Bay/Craigslist or the like -- this is the approach that I took. I was able to put together a power flow system for about $325 doing it this way.

The alternative for decks under 48" omits the blower. Those grass catchers ought to run $500 or so new from a dealer. This should be what you need for your 42" deck. You may want to look at E-Bay/Craigslist to see what's available ------

About $550 when I use the JD "build your own" site, that's for the hopper assembly and chute.

Something to consider if you plan on a lot of bagging is to swap this mower for a 300R while new. The 300R is an awesome bagger with a very good built in blower. It will be a much better bagger mower than the x304 will ever be but is not 4 wheel steer. It is about $500 more than a 304.
