JD SCUTLB?

They better because all of the competition has it, the Massey GC2310, the Cub Cadet 5000 has a BH option, even the new Simplicity Legacy XL has one too.

Some of those are designs that wouldn't make Deere feel the need to keep up with. The Kubota does seem like a great design...

The Massesy is better than the BX because you don't have to remove the 3-point arms like the BX. Have you seen the Legacy XL, it's better than the Deere(has the same Tuff-Torq axles and hydro unit) Simplicities have the best cutting deck by far and the new loader is redesigned with the auto park system, and what don't you like about the Cub Cadet?

Removing the 3 point arms is almost always BETTER... I would hate to have the ROPS sitting against my forehead (Massey)

The Simplicity with a backhoe sounds like a mess in bent sheet metal.

I haven't seen the MTD, but I will look into it.

Backhoes can really generate a LOT of force. I am glad I have one on a midchassis, I would want a very proven design and would go Kubota on a subcut, if it were me... (Please don't tell RaT I said that...)

I tend to agree that currently the Massey is probably the best designed of the mini-units. I like the way the BH attaches and the hoses run with minimal chance of pinch points.

You should look into the Simplicity too, it's built as good if not better than the Deere. Why would having to take something off be better? That would be like saying having to take off the MMM to use the loader would be better than being able to leave it on. I don't see the ROPS as a problem either, it's the same as the BX.

Why is it better to remove the 3 point arms? First, it only takes a couple minutes. There, they are out of the way to allow the hoe to closely couple to the tractors frame. There is nothing as slick as this setup on Deere's 47, 48 and 49. The hoe mounts rock solid, and the mmm still works. THAT is far better than being able to leave the 3 point arms on. And I am not even going to discuss hoes that mount to the 3 point. NO THANKS!

The 46 is a subframe mount, and loses the MMM That is a shame, even though there are happy owners.

On the ROPS I am comparing them to my setup where the ROPS is taller and behind you. The Deere 46 is also that way. Deere claims they design this equipment together, not re-engineer later. On my machine, that definitely seems true. I am very pleased with the system. I sure would not want a ROPS where it could smack my forehead (Massey shows the operator wearing a hardhat in their literature...) Deere makes you have the Tall ROPS with a loader, that makes sense.

Now, Sub CUTS are a little different, and I am sure that there are things they are doing that owners are plenty happy with. I do things that I am pleased with on mine that big TLB operators would snicker at.

I suspect, That at some level. Deere is saying: "If you wanna tlb step up to here..."

Woods is comming out with a sub cut backhoe that will fit all this stuff in the near future. I saw the literature for it today. I do have concerns about how it will work but we will have to wait and see. It will be a subframe mount.

Well I guess as long as it doesn't shake the tractor to bits it should be useful. I imagine folks who buy the smaller BH's still get a lot of use from them. For me - anything beats trying to put shovel in my land... rocks and more rocks surrounded by some dirt. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
