Was at my local John Deere dealer today and we got on the subject of bio diesel and my mechanic (shop foreman) said I hope you are not using that in your 755. I have been for some time now and had no problems. He claims I will in time and is suprised I have not had any yet.

He claims it is bad for injectors, pumps, fuel lines, burns cooler, less HP and will shorten engine life. He also said it has a very short storage life. Has anyone else been told to stay away from bio in your c.u.t.'s. He says he really does not like it in farm tractors but really recommends you stay away from it in the lawn and compact diesels.

I think you'll be OK if you don't use too high a blend; i.e. stick with the 5% or maybe 10% (Deere recommends no more than 5% for the new models).

He's correct that it doesn't store well --- the algae, etc. will begin growin' sooner than ordinary diesel. Use a good fuel supplement like PowerService, etc. to ****** algae growth and guard against gellin' up when it gets cool.

Some folk's have complained that biodiesel gells up at +40F! I've never had a problem even with 'ol No.#2 until it get's around +20F. So, biodiesel is a more temperature sensitive fuel, too.

I've read that previous biodiesel products were inconsistent and that there was considerable variation in quality. So, the performance was not consistent, either.

If the refining quality is variable; you could experience problems with debris and contamination and thus have pump and injector troubles. I think that many manufacturers have tightened up the protocols and the number of present problems has declined overall.

There have been lengthy discussions on this topic hereabouts on this forum. A search here will provide you with hours of enlightenment..

Hope this was helpful ===

Case-IH gives approval of 100% use of biodiesel in their newer tractors. Many of these tractors use high pressure common rail injection and are Tier III engines. I would think the 755 could handle it.

As far as lines,pumps,etc........... only problem i ever hear of is older engines with real rubber hoses and seals (as opposed to synthetic). Supposedly the methanol in bio slowly eats the rubber, and it will clog filters as well as cause leaks. I wouldn't worry about it as long as its good quality bio.

My 14 year old son would say he is an old timer but I wouldn't. I would say he is around mid to late 40's.

I have been using B11 for some time now and had knock on wood no problems with filters or anything for that matter.

You will probably want to replace your fuel lines, if you haven't recently.

I just did that on my 2355, this weekend. Good thing too because the injector rail return line was really loose and it didn't have a clamp. It slipped off with a very light pull!! scary since it is right above the exhaust manifold. All the lines were in pretty bad shape. I am keeping my eyes on the fuel pump and injector pump seals. So far no issues.

This tractor is a 1989. But I have 3 2005 diesels. I am running B20. I put in anti-gel and biocide before I filled my storage tank and get my fuel from reputable supplier that does all the appropriate testing. I also run through a two stage filter. So far so good but I have only been running it for a year.

Seems to be a lot of I heard stuff on this subject. Not all of it is true. My home brew bio gels about 22 to 28 degrees depending on the oil source. I have run b100 most of the time and blends around 50/50 in the winter with PS. My TA 210 has had no problems yet but am planning on changing the retrurn lines soon. I waited too long on the diesel car(300SD) and found a puddle under it. Bio burns so much cleaner, and the oil in my Dodge is still new looking after a run to Coos Bay and back. (2000 miles) About 2 tanks of #2 and the oil is black.

The only downside I can see other than making it is the fuel line issue, which is about 18" of injector return line and about 3' of main and tank return llines, or about $20.00. Pump diesel was $4.09 today and the batch I made last monday cost about $.56 a gallon. Hose is cheap.

But injectors, fuel pumps and the rest aren't. So I stay conservative, until the manufacturers lighten up. Deere is lightening up now. Their story has very recently changed to more cautionary tone. They backed off the B5 only line. Mainly stating what they know and telling folks to be careful with fuel storage. I was happy to see Case come out with the B100 endorsement. VW and Ford are still clinging to B5. It would be interesting to hear their internal arguments...

It isn't the perfect fuel by any means, but I think a blend is better than pure diesel in anything but maybe a race toy.

Well would someone Please tell the shop foreman if it had not been for the goverment sticking their noses . into it we would have been running BIO Diesel for the last 100 Years as the . Inventor Rudolph Diesel Intended for them to run on.To Begin with .... Just Like the leaded Gasoline BS . Their was no Lead in it till the Goverment dumped it in . Then made a big deal about taking it out .

This Diesel Fuel Crap was also a bunch of BS It was all high sulpher Diesel fuel it was all the same color.. The only . ONLY **** reason they started the Low sulpher Crap was not that they gave a **** about the enviroment , It was a cover up of the whole reason the wanted the red dye into the fuel , So they would know who was paying taxes and who wasnt . And the reason i say they didnt give a **** about the enviroment is because Guess who . where it is avaliable yet is running the Now Red Highsulpher diesel up and down the roads . You got it the GOVERMENT.
