Does anyone know of an internet site or mail order that carries basic JD maintenance supplies such as motor oil, grease, gear oil, filters etc.

While not "an Internet site," KC Canary will take Internet orders on a toll free number. You can call Mark Bruckner at 1-800-920-7097. I bought a tooth bar that way and felt the transaction was handled well. Good luck.
