MarkinMN, thanks re photos. Now I understand about the big tires and hydraulic coupling. What about accessing engine compartment?

Hey Ray, Getting access to engine compartment is a snap! The hood/brush guard, is mounted by 4 pins in front. To open it, just remove the top 2 pins (pull the hitch-pin clips first) and lift and swing, forward the guard up,over and down and let it rest on the loader horizontal member the bottom pins act as hinges.................hope this helps...........mark

protection package will be available for the 4000 Series Compact Utility Tractors. The John
Deere Xtra Armor protection package provides maximum protection to vital tractor and
loader components when used in harsh work environments. Kit contents can be ordered
complete (separate kit for tractor and loader) or as individual items.

XTRA ARMOR TRACTOR PROTECTION KIT
The entire tractor protection package contains ROPS warning light guards, backup alarm,
SCV line guard, and rental upgrade, which includes a high-speed lockout and ROPS lock.
