JD X540 kaw only firing on one cylinder. Need Help

My neighbor has a jd x540 and has replaced coil, plug, and wire but still is not getting spark in one cylinder. He is swamped since is his tranny blew in his planting tractor, so i was going to go see if i could help him with this problem. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!!

Well that is rather unusual as both coils are controlled either off or on by the action of the off/on/start switch.

I have attached a PDF of the FD731V engine. See the electrical section.

Make sure that the air gap is set correctly. If still no spark, remove the grounding wire and try it again.

Did you get your Kawasaki running OK?

Check and be sure that the plug "cap" is properly "screwed" into the coil wire. I have seen where this is the problem. Also don't assume that just because you have new components that they are ok also. I have personally had brand new plugs out of the box be faulty. Check the flywheel triggering point where it passes the pickup coil is clean and spaced properly. I would remove the plug cap, insert a wire, and see if that will spark when held closely to the engine block. Does the Kawasaki have any mystery black boxes also?
