1*Please ignore Lbrown's comments, he trolls this forum looking for anyone thinking about an X700 series and then
2*tells them how wrong they are and that his opinion is the best blah, blah, blah.
1*I do not troll any forum.
I read and or reply to subjects I'm intrested in and seldom ever notice what forum they're in .
2*Incorrect I believe one should have all the info available before making a bying decsion .
3*Just ignore this guy. He very rarely has anything of any value whatsoever to add to a thread.
4**It's all about butting in where he is not wanted and driving up his ridiculous post count....
3*See 2 above.
4*See 1 above.

There are comfort features missing on the 2210/2305 in my opinion. I would never say it's the Cadillac of mowers. It does a good job of mowing and is more efficient than I give it credit for. Best part is after mowing my 3.5 acres it looks at me like "Is that it"? And best of all it can tackle tractor jobs way beyond it's small size. Since I am demanding of my tractors I like that part of it. 3pt will lift more than the chassis can balance. Will pull and/or push loads beyond it's weight. Very strong chassis that will last a long time.

As previously stated, I can't verify that with the X series.

1*I'm guessing they are more a lawn/garden tractor??
2*I think the point LB was trying to make was if your list grows, your tractor won't have the capacity to handle it.
1*That's right.
2*I was .

At any rate the X749 is a very nice mower, if it were me I would use it for that purpose and then buy or rent a real tractor for material handling and ground engaging work. I would not encumber an X749 with a fel, after all is said and done you won't have much loader capacity either. You could get a lot of work done in a weekend with a Deere 210 LE landscape loader with a rear mounted hydraulic boxblade and then return it. My 2 cents.

Exactly! The OP said that mowing was his main use and for that there is no better machine for mowing on hills then the X749. If I have a lot of dirt moving to do I will rent a tracked skidsteer and really get some work done.

LB, I'm not trying to bust your chops here but your rational was why I bought the 2305 in the first place instead of the X749 and it was just wrong thinking in my case.

I have used both the 210 LE, Case 480 and several skidsteers the landscape loaders do a better job with finish grading and do less damage to a lawn.

And ppl don't think that mowing is some serious sh*t need to come read these threads. The deal is I went looking for the best tractor for my situation. The sales pitch was always: "you should look at a SCUT with all the upward mobility and its resale value not just a lawn tractor I understand the pitch and had the Kool-Aid grin and all, but right before staining my shirt I came to grips with my needs. Which is best fit with the x749? Those who have the SCUTs I am sure you love em and you work em hard, they are great machines I almost bought one. If I am buying a 12K lawn mower I can drop a couple nickels and hire some muscle for a large job, i.e. see the photo on my first post. That is a 120' wide wall 12' tall at its highest point I had installed in 2008, there were 2 heavy hitter cats in my yard for over 6 weeks.

My whole point was to share my experience and excitement on my purchase; and I guess to also share a little of the experience of the ongoing 2305 vs. x700 tractor. The only benefit of the 2305 for me personally is to have a loader; it would be nice for mulching in spring and moving stuff around the property but at the cost of mowing in style, forget it!! It痴 all good!!

I'm surprised noone really commented on the photo before making what seem like "blanket" responses to the X749 v. 2305 debate... ain't no way I'd mow that lawn with a 2305! I think you picked the perfect tractor.

As for a FEL, a lot of people say this, but I have no idea how many people follow through... at $2,240 for FEL, $130+/- tax, couple of hundred to (properly) modify it to fit the AWS, you're able to rent a Bobcat and have it delivered to your house 15 times over. And you'd be able to get the job done right the first time. Not sure what the front of your house looks like, but again, I wouldn't want anything but the most stable piece of equipment on that backyard - and I'd say a skid steer's the way to go.

BRSMIT, congrats! You'll love the X749. Sounds to me like you made the right choice for your needs. I've had my X585 for 6 years (gas and no aws compared to your machine) and have never regretted it. It is super comfortable and quick. I've had one minor EFI issue that was taken care of by the dealer for free long after the warrenty expired.

When my needs changed (needed a FEL and box blade/backhoe) I chose to got to the 2720, but didnt want to give up what the 585 offered. Not sure I would consider a fel on the 749. I like the recommendation of the others to rent what you need and get the job done quick and easily, vs laying the cash out for something that might not meet your needs.

Regarding resale, around here, the premium riders hold their value quite well. I'm looking to go to a X748 (to move up to a 62" deck and diesel...not sure if you've ever had the scare of your wife using a yellow jerry can to fill up the "gas" tank!). I'm looking at a $2,000 true loss in original value (save inflation). For me to mow, plow, blow and spray for 6 years and cost $2,000 to me is great value.

Again, congrats and happy mowing!

I know they really aren't the same machine but the dealer kept pushing me to the 2305.
Same thing happened to me, I actually paid more for my X749. All I want to do is mow and blow, maybe carry around some stuff. The 2305 had negatives for me where the X749 had none.
Other option is the Johnny bucket Sr., doesn't have the lifting ability of the 45 but I am not sure I would need to lift anything but gravel, mulch, dirt, and move firewood.
Don't forget about the 54" Shovel option, handles up to 200 lbs. and utilizes the 54" plow so you get that too. I may add that to mine.

Congrats on the new purchase, I got mine for 12,188.60 with the 54" deck only.
