JD x758 Battery replacement

Any suggestions for a John Deere x 758 after market battery. The brand name dealer batteries are just too high $$$$ ??? Thanks

Plenty of options. If you do not know the battery group type, just measure your battery dimensions, CCA, terminal type and orientation, then look up what BCI group type will work in your machine. Walmart, TSC, etc will likely have something that will work.

I have had good luck with Interstate brand batteries. They hold up much better than cheaper Walmart ones.

This is years ago. My brother in laws JD 748 needed a new battery. He took the old battery to an automotive parts store. They supposedly matched it up. It would not fit. He had to go buy the JD battery. For some reason I remember the price. It was $148 then. It should be a lot more now.

From my notes when I replaced the battery in the X744:

Factory battery is PN AM125463
It is a group 51 battery (not 51R)
It needs to be a 500 CCA (diesel engine)
I bought a Napa Legend 7551
Interstate MT-51 mega-tron may work too

Note: There are group 51 batteries that are much cheaper but are only 425 CCA

I have had good luck with Costco batteries. I got the JD when I replaced mine because I couldn't find a group 51 costco only had the 51R. My factory battery only lasted 5 years so we will see how long this one lasts. It's starting its third season.

If you use it during the winter don't skimp on the CCA but if you use it only during the summer it probably won't matter.
