Has anyone performed the 50 hour transmission service on their Z655? If you have done the service, how did you remove the clamp on the hose at the bottom of the transmission oil reservoir? Evidently, when my Z655 was assembled, they attached the hose and clamp on the tank before it was placed in the "pocket" in the frame. In order to drain the reservoir, the Owner's Manual says to "loosen the hose clamp and remove the hose from the reservoir". It doesn't mention that the hose clamp is placed where the head of the hose clamp adjusting screw is inaccessible.:confused2:

The only thing I can think of is to suck the oil out of the transmission oil reservoir with an oil extractor.

If I wanted to partially disassemble the left side of the machine, I could lift out the reservoir and change the location of the clamp. An example where easy/quick assembly in the factory took precedence over servicing the machine later. After 30+ years working for a major heavy truck manufacturer, I've seen that done many times.

The 50-hour transmission service is done on my JD Z655. :D

I used my oil extractor to suck all the transmission fluid from the reservoir. It removed all the transmission fluid except for a very small amount on the bottom of the reservoir. The white plastic reservoir was clean on the bottom with no dirt, residue, or metal particles. I carefully wiped out the bottom with clean shop towels to be sure. I replaced the filter (JD Part No. AM141585) and refilled with the recommended JD Low Viscosity Hy-Gard (Part No. TY22000). It took a little over a gallon to fill the reservoir to the full mark. I drove the mower down our long asphalt driveway with some full circle turns and a for few feet running in reverse. I returned to my shop, parked, and re-checked the transmission fluid level and it was still full. It was about a 30-minute job. The next scheduled transmission service is at 400 hours.

What year is yours? I just got a 2014 Z655 that has TuffTorq TZT7-D Hydros. A dedicated unit for each rear wheel. The manual says they are sealed and require no maintenance, other than making sure the plastic reservoirs each have a little oil visible in the bottoms. It says nothing about even seeing your friendly JD dealer at 50 hours for service. Perhaps it's different for previous model years??
