I am looking for help with a JD1050 2wd that I recently bought. I am trying to do some repairs to it and and need some ssistance with the front wheels as one of them has rusted through and the other is probably not far behind. I will attempt to get the holes welded up but in the event it is not salvageable, does anyone have another solution as to another type wheel that will fit?

Might have to look for a 6 bolt rim hopefully with the right size center hole.

Wish you luck getting the existing rims welded up.

Any pics? Measurements of the bolt spacing and center hole size?

thanks for the reply ..... I have no measurements at this time as the wheel is still at the tire shop where I was getting a flat fixed. Since it is a Yanmar tractor I guess the bolt pattern may not be standar unless Deere specified the bolt pattern for the wheel. I am told that this is a common occurrence for compact foreign-built tractors since the steel used to make the wheels is inferior to U.S. steel. Hopefully welding will work!

why????

It's an old thread in SAFETY, I think.
But welding on a wheel/tire assembly can have an explosive (as in death and dismemberment) result up to 48 hours after welding.
I searched for the thread...couldn't find it. I hope another TBNer has better luck and posts a link.

thanks much for the info! fortunately a local welder was able to repair the two holes in the wheel for only $35. One of the holes was where the valve stem was located, so he had to punch a hole in a piece of strap and then weld it in place. The tire repair store said that the previous owner had put tire sealer goop in it at some time which led to the bad corrosion. I have ordered a new tube for it and should be back running in a day or so!
