The bucket on the 145 keeps creeping up from the main rams. Is this a matter of rebuilding one or more of the rams to stop it from creeping? They also will not stay up when stopped, they always leak down. The tilt also has a dead spot going down near the end, it will finally go through by tilting back up and down again. I cleaned the controls but that didn't do anything. I suppose that's a matter of the tilt rams? Is repairing the rams something I want to do or should I take the rams off and have them re-sealed/rebuilt? JD145 is on my JD2020. Or could it be from the tractor itself, the rear hydraulics won't stay up either when stopped, but no problems while it's running, I use a NH 451 mower and a JD 45 blade with it.

I was thinking you might want to check the valves, since it sounded like fluid was leaking past the valves (floating up when running and dropping when shut off) but then you mentioned that the 3pt droops when the tractor is off as well. I'm not so familiar with hydraulic systems yet, but this suggests that whatever holds the pressure from the pump (maybe a check valve) is allowing fluid to pass through whey the tractor isn't running. I'd double check that the valves are clean and all seals function before taking the cylinders apart.

Yeah, I'm not real clear on how all this hydraulic stuff works, but I do know the HY pump is off the front of the tractor, I replaced it once. I've got the service book on this tractor and maybe I should look in there, but it seems to me that a lot of the stuff is controlled under the seat by removing the top of the transmission, but am really not sure. I was hoping someone here wound really know, after thinking about it, the problem very well may be inside the hydraulic section where the 3pt hitch comes from. It's getting to the point at my age I really don't want to do much heavy work on this tractor, but if it's a matter of pulling off a cover and replacing seals, I can do that if no special tools are needed.

I'm going to move this to hydraulics.
