JD2555 Hyd Oil level

The oil level on the dip stick is not entirely clear. There is a checkered section plus an eye. Since this JD2555 is new to me and I don't have a service manual I'm not sure if the level should be at the top of the checkered section or just in the eye. Anyone know?

I think as long as hyd oil level is above the eye on dipstick you'll be fine. I don't have access to a 2555 operators manual but I think one should check hyd oil with engine idling.

I don't want to overfill since I don't know if this would have a negative effect. Again no service manual to verify. No idea if you check level with engine idle, hot, cold or upside down

If someone does have a manual if you could please check that would be great. Was looking to ask JD but you cannot contact them for basic support but you can get a quote haha. Next time I am near a dealer I will drop in an ask.

Wouldn't it be simpler just to order an operator's manual? I just randomly picked 1st serial number range. There's also several 2555 operators manuals listed on Ebay.

Operating 2555 hyd system a little over full will not do any harm.

Yea...have been inquiring about operators manual last couple days. Have one more response on cost before I make a choice. Just need my tractor and thought I would inquire here until I get a manual. Once I have the manual I shouldn't need to post any help questions

Neighbor has a 2555. Manual says check cold, prefer morning after sitting over night. Should be between upper and lower marks on dipstick. No mention of running engine like earlier JDs.
