Hello TBN'ers,
I am in the market for a new or clean used tractor. I currently have a JD 4400 CUT that has been a good machine. I am looking to upgrade to a 4052 CUT or a 5055 Utility. I like the idea of the Hydro on the 4052, but I suppose I could get used to the power reverser on the 5055. Plus the price points look to be about the same for the two machines with getting a heavier duty frame tractor with the 5055. Also, if I should decide to get a baler and everything that goes along with it, I figure the 5055 would be better for baling.
Also, opinions on Cab vs open station. I like the convenience of a cab but would want operating doors on both sides. But, I am on and off the tractor a lot with the stuff I am doing and worry that the cab might be more of an inconvenience. Maybe a sun shade? My implements are all rated for the 50 hp range for the 4400 and I don't want to have to spend more money for different implements.
I am in the preliminary stage with the dealer and don't have any numbers yet. I do have a skid steer, and that is great for loader work, digging post holes, or plowing snow on paved or frozen ground , but a tractor is much easier on the grass and the field when doing loader work as it doesn't tear things up as much.
Your input would greatly be appreciated.
