JD455 shuts down to rough idle after it gets hot

It will start up and run, but after running for awhile it shuts to idle and won't throttle back up. It has to be turned off and cool down to start again. I changed the fuel pump and checked all the fuses, but it didn't help. The engine temperature gauge and fuel tank gauge have never worked since I had it. Has anyone else had this problem? It'll run for quite awhile before doing this. Also, what is the fuel pump pressure supposed to be?

It's a 3 cylinder diesel engine model # 3TNA72UJ3

Sounds like the injector pump, try pouring some cool water on it when the engine starts to die. I had a mechanic show me this trick, and it has helped me a couple times.

Might be the same problem my Cat is having. I tried everything but after 1/2 an hour it had no power and acted like it was missing or running out of fuel. It was suggested that the rubber fuel line from the tank is deteriorated and shutting off fuel flow when the fuel gets warm. I'm going to change the inlet fuel line and see it if helps. Apparently it's not that uncommon of a problem for an older machine.

As previously stated check for good fuel flow from tank. I wonder if fuel solenoid is getting hot and stopping fuel flow? AM124379 SOLENOID, FUEL SHUT-OFF ADD 118.93 USD

One needs to be careful pouring water on a hot injection pump most especially if it's a rotary pump(which 455 doesn't have) as the water can cause head/rotor to seize therefore twisting the drive shaft in 2 pieces. I have heard of pouring water on a non operating rotary inj pump to cool pump to increase pumping pressure to aid in getting engine started.
