JD4600 hydraulic problem (HELP)

My 3 point is constantly trying to readjust up to the pre determined position while bush hogging or whenever I add an attachment with some weight. I also noticed that while using the FEL I could hear a squeal like noise in the 3 point lift arm area at times. I have a 48BH that was installed by the dealer with the quick disconnects and a loop hose that is connected when the BH is unhooked. I check the Hyd. Fluid level and it is good. I have about 500 hours on the machine and never changed the hydraulic filter or cleaned the screen. Is this my problem? Can you get an air leak in the loop hose that will cause this? Is there an adjustment or do I have a major problem?

I suspect changing the filter and oil, as well as cleaning the screen would be timely. Usually recommend that at 50 hours and then 250 after that I believe.

The "squeal" of oil passing I can get if the rpm is low, and oil not warmed up.

The readjusting of the 3 ph arms isn't something that I'm familiar with. If at the top of the lift, there is an adjustment that can be made.

I too would change the fluid and filter. Be sure to get the suction screen on the bottom of the transmission. I just use diesel fuel and a paintbrush to clean mine.

Thanks for the advise. I will change the oil and filter along with cleaning the screen right away. Hope that takes care of the problem.

Do you have draft control on your 4600? That would be a spring arrangement on the top link connect at the rockshaft.

Is the top link the same thing as the center link? The center link is rigid and doesn't appear to have a spring arrangement.

Yes, the top link is connected to the center link.
If you had the draft control, then there is some linkage that possibly needs adjustment.

When the 3 ph arms are "readjusting", have you tried different pin placement at the center link, to see if the reactions are the same?

I do not think that I have a draft control. I attached the bush hog in the same manner as in the past. Before it would self adjust every now and again, now it self adjust every few seconds.

The troubleshooting chart doesn't spell out the re-adjust problem, but here is the list anyway.

There is only one that might apply, with the issue pertaining to a faulty control valve. Hopefully not it.

That possibility reminds me of an early problem with the first 4300's (and I suspect the 4600 may have been included) that a screen in the hyd. line sometimes would blow out and become lodged in the control valve. There was a replacement issued that removed that screen. However, with your BH, I suspect you don't have that issue because I think that line is replaced with the power beyond. Might be worth a check with the service manager at your Deere dealer. Your 4600 may not be involved.

I had the opportunity to talk with a 78 year young ex tractor dealer about my problem. The first thing out of Jim痴 mouth was that I was restricting the oil flow and that he recommended that I double check my quick coupler connection. My response back to Jim was that I connected and disconnected quick couplers 1000痴 of times and that I did not think that the coupler was my problem. Jim gave me that smile. I went home and looked at the connection and it looked good. I disconnected and cleaned the quick couplers and reconnected. Problem solved, that Jim is the man. 2 lessons to be learned. Check your quick couples and listen to your elders.
