Help ! Have had a Mechanic wrench on my machine who cleaned bowl and filter then blew out my injectors saying they were filthy. This is after having the local JD service out for a full job of changing all filters etc.
Now after running 1 hour, fuel tank full of oil. I drained changed tank of fuel and cleaned bowl etc ..as well as cleaned out injectors myself....ran 1 hour
clean fuel was full of oil HELP out there? one wrench said it could be the compression filter? P.S this is a trans shift 4600. Thanx for any help....

I have never heard of oil getting into fuel tank on this model. Is the oil level in the crankcase getting low when this happens? Is the engine running OK? What are any other symptoms?

She runs until the injectors get filthy again and will not turn over unless I empty the fuel tank, bowl and blow out (carefully) the injectors. And again someone here (a local wrench for forklifts) mentioned the compression seal??

Thank You for any help.

Really this tractor has been extremely dependable until one wrencher worked on it....now I believe he may have hurt her bad.

How are you figuring out its oil in your diesel fuel? Is the oil creating a interface between the diesel fuel? What I'm trying to figure out is, is it oil for sure thats in your fuel? Oil and diesel will blend with each other very easily unlike water and diesel that will separate with each other.

Runs like a top after cleanup, within 1 hour oil is in diesel tank ( oil is darker than the clean diesel going in tank) she starts to smoke after hour 2 she will not start unless I clean her up....

Thank you

I just can't think of any way engine oil could get into a fuel tank. That would require the oil to travel through the fuel line in a direction opposite of how it should flow. I don't have a 4600 service manual, but cannot think of any other path engine oil could take to flow to the tank. There should be a fuel tank vent and there should be a crankcase breather, but I don't think there should be any connection between the two.
Are you sure it's engine oil?

Was this technician at the Deere dealer? If so, contact them. If an independent mechanic, I'd suggest you call them. This should be a warranty issue...especially if the mechanic routed some line incorrectly.

Does your injectors have a low pressure return line going back to the fuel tank from the injectors?

Something more to this than we know from the OP.

Something doesn't fit in here, with the oil in diesel fuel and a mechanic wrenching after the Deere dealer providing local service.

I'd also suggest a visit to the Deere dealer, and a talk with the service manager about the mechanics work and the problem.

Sorry to hear you are not getting good use out of your 4600 in the meantime.

What is the history behind the tractor, and why the wrenching ??

Wish you the best, and a remedy to the problem real soon.
