I have a 2005 757 I purchased used this year. The machine itself only had 210 hours on the 18 horse Kawi. I did notice the last E in John Deere was half missing and the paint looked messed up there. I guessed the first owner had dropped something on it or it had got banged up in a trailer. I removed the decal cleaned everything up and lightly sanded the bad area. Then applied primer and JD green and a new decal.
I now have 310 hrs on the machine this season and I notice the E is starting to melt and the paint is getting messed up again under the E in that one area.
It is strange because it is not that close to the exhaust pipe but there is a 90 degree bend in the pipe and the point of the 90 I think directs heat to that one spot. Has anyone else with a 757 had this problem and if JD does not make a heat deflector what should I use to try and deflect the heat away from that one area?
