After too many years on a Ferguson TO 20 I would understandably like a 4x4 with a loader. I want to stay with a stick, no hydro. These two seem to fit the bill. Two dealers two prices both $14,500. The D29, which seems a little beefier won't take the new style loader though I am told, but the explanation is vague. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif The 4210 is WAY beefier than both but I can't justify the extra bucks....or should I?
Any comparative opinions and/or are there any other tractors that might fit the bill?

Thanks,

Joel

Don't know about the D29 but the 790 is a pretty nice tractor. That price seems pretty high though if all its for is the tractor + loader.

We're gonna go find a Kabota to sit on today. Neither the 790 or D29 had loaders on them but that should be ready by today or tomorrow also so's to compare how these all sit and feel. We're in Oregon (don't know regional pricing differences) and haven't leaned on the prices yet, but what seems to be a current "fair" price w/ag tires and loader?

Thanks again

Joelt:

I'm not sure if your last posting meant there going to install loaders and the price you gave was with loaders included.

790/419 loader
4x4
Ind. tires
Rear work light
Bucket leveling thingy
Nose gard
LX5 Bursh cutter

Gave $14,100 out the door, two years free pick up and drop off at my door for 2 years. Deere did have a couple of specials going when I bought

There certainly are regional differences. There are also huge differences between dealers. I would get prices from as many as you can. I got prices from several over the phone before I wasted time visiting... they were all over the map.

You can sort of go by the prices listed on the JD site. I would expect a decent discount off list for the loader and tractor after any setup or delivery fees. That 14.5k is really close to list price.

The other brands are quite a bit harder than that because many do not give you any price. Here is a link with Kubota list prices on it. Not sure how up to date it is.

If you want to stay with a manual tranny, the Kioti LK3054 seems to be a lot of value for the money. Just a thought. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Retails $14,225 or so and should sell for just over $12,000. John

The link in the above message was to an older version of the pricing page. The up to date prices can be found in the link below.

I'm not sure what the sticker on my forehead said yesterday but......Bad day tractor shopping - prices went up. The older model Case D29 stick w/older model loader quoted at $14.5K went up to "around" $16K cause they can't find a loader and would have to "order" one. They don't even want to do it. They have this years DX33 stick w/newer style loader (much better) and quoted $16.7K, maybe $1K less if they get a newer DX29 in. That sounded OK but later called to tell me they screwed up on the price and the DX33 w/loader would be closer to $19.5K - jeez. Meanwhile I'm riding the JD790 w/loader (quoted at $14.7K) and don't really like it so look at the JD4310 again. Really, really nice but got the price down to only $17.9K. Checked Kabota L3400 w/loader out. It was "OK" at $15.1K but not "exciting" like the DX33 or JD4310. I was happy at $14.5K or so but am gonna have to twist my arm to jump to around $18K. These guys aren't acting like "car" salesman - or are they? Any suggestions guys??

I appreciate all the input - this is quite the tractor site. I'm gonna see what the JD forum guys have to say about the 4310.
