JDs at the airport as luggage tugs

Walking through the Charlotte airport last weekend I noticed that they were using JD CUTs for luggage tugs. Pretty sure the model number said 3320 on them, and the 3PH gear had been removed, but the loader controls were still in place. I could see maybe a half dozen of them from the window.

That's cool... Those tractors are probably cheaper then buying the dedicated tugs. I'd guess they're also leased machines.

There's a few boat yards using NH tractors for towing and launching boats on the Susquehanna River close to me.

All of the RNLI lifeboat stations in the UK use Shire tractors to launch their smaller lifeboats. They also have some really cool crawler tractors they have to launch the 50ft monster lifeboats.

I could understand them useing tractors. I had a friend several years ago that worked for TUG inc. the people that make them. he said luggage carriers are about 25000$ a peace. and the main tugs that pull planes were about 85000$ a peace. there much bigger.

Would'nt it be cool to see a 3320 pulling a 747.......

Now that would make a good John Deere comercial......
