Jinma 204 (Farm Pro 2420) Hydraulic Pump Leak

I've got a 2005 Jinma 204 and I've got a hydraulic pump leak somewhere. My guess is it's where the "back" cover plate is. I've had leaks here before and "fixed" them by tightening up those 4 bolts. Well now I'm at the limit...and it's leaking pretty bad...almost a drop every few seconds. Twice now I've had no hydraulics and needed to fill the reservoir. It's time to get this fixed.

My question is...will I be surprised when I try to fix this with a new gasket? I mean can I just take off the rear cover without things falling/springing out? Is there a special gasket for hydraulics? Can I get away with fixing it with something like a liquid gasket?

Only surprise you may get would be hydraulic fluid on your boots. But no way you're gonna replace 3 O-rings with gasket-inna-tube. Get ahold of Homier, they'll likely have what you need. There are two pages of O-rings at FarmPro Parts - Homier Distributing Company, Inc.

Thanks Greg...I was hoping it could have been just a gasket...guess not. Ordered the rebuild kit. I wonder if my trying to pull fenceposts up with the 3pt attached auger boom had something to do with it...lifted the front end right up...real easy. Oh well, live and learn.

It might have, but keep in mind the Chinese rubber is not the greatest. I developed a leak in my power steering hydraulic pump. It turned out to be a bad rubber coated washer which I could repair with an "O" ring, thank goodness. Looks like it just deteriorated and started leaking?

The O-ring thats leaking comes in the hydraulic pump rebuild kit,trying to find the right o-ring as GregG suggested may be hard to do without trial & error,just get the rebuild kit and you will have the right parts for the job.

one bit of warning, (see my posts a while back about blown/leaking hyd pump.) repair kits sometimes work other times no, heard this from many people (including a few parts suppliers) but the 20 something bucks is cheaper than new pump, I got both and needed new pump as when installed the repair kit it locked the rebuild pump up too much tension in the NEW o-rings to let pump turn. the older one like mine used "W shaped" square type O-Rings not standard o-rings. I tried regular o-rings cut to fit but wouldn't seal good enough... I also used new outer O-Rings in the grove but didn't work, so I put the KIT inb and tried that still no luck would not let engine turn over due to pump compression binding the rotors to the pump housing. so ON went NEW pump and I put the rebuild pump back for "just in case" figuring that the new kit seals should soften up letting the pump free up later if need be. was no loss other than seal kit cost. I forget what pump cost but I had upgraded one higher volume to begin with so got same pump...

on the jinma pumps there are 4 bolts 2 are LONGER and hold the pump to the front block/cover and the other two bolts hold the pump together. If you look closely at the plate mounting you can see this feature.

PS look for Pump Foam or Hyd oil Foaming issues that will usually lead into pump problems as a search on here.

Spiker, when you use the pump rebuild kits we just snug up the pump and start the tractor,while it will leak a little once the o-ring seats you can tighten up the pump the rest of the way
