I found the answer in an old post, but then I couldn't find it again, to thank everyone who pointed out the problem. The circlip on the driveshaft that holds the 6 ball bearings in place broke. I put the tractor on the court in front of my house, rolled the bucket to pick the front end up, chocked it, and got a screw driver. Loosened the rubber hose that holds the two tin sleeves together, pulled the front sleeve back, and a ball bearing rolled out. Got all 6 bearings and put them back in. The heavy washer with the tabs on it, that holds the ball bearings in place, is pushed forward as far as it will go, and I cant see or feel the grove the circlip goes in? Tomorrow I'll try tapping the washer with a brass punch to see if it will tighten up a little. I ran up to Ace to see if they had a circlip and they did not. This heat is whipping my butt, so I paid $4 apiece for 2 of them, plus $14 shipping, just so I wouldn't have to go back out today.
Thanks to everyone past and present that helps with these question. I'm pretty much a JD guy, but a friend was moving to Florida and sold me this Jinma/Nortrak for $2000, with 248 hours on it. It's turned out to be money well spent. I'm pretty rough on stuff, and have no complaints. This circlip is the first issue I've had, Joe.
