I was looking at the specs on this machine (specifically, the Nortracs), and it looks like the 3 point lift capacity is only 800 lbs? That's a little on the low-side for a 2700 lb tractor, isn't it? Is that spec simply wrong, by any chance?

Thx,
Dave

Depends on what you considder low.. my 8n is about that weight, and has about that lift capacity...

On the other hand, my NH 1920 is in the 3300# range and has a capacity of around 1800# or so...

My yanmar 1700 acted like it was straining at around 500 but did lift it until the front end became light.. have a feeling it would have lifted a bit more... but them that tractor was only about 1800 # itself soooo.

What were you expecting for a 20 hp tractor?

Good question! And the answer is: I guess I'm not sure. My old Power-trac will lift about 800 lbs at the front and it only weighs 1200 lbs. I remember seeing that the Kioti's weigh around 2000 lbs and will lift 1200 or so lbs at the 3PH. I guess I would expect a tractor to be able to lift about half it's own weight or so at the 3PH (assuming that at somewhere above that, the front end starts to lift)...

Thx,
Dave

The specs are right. With a margin of error, you might be able to lift 900 pounds.

It's a function of the hydrulic system, stability of the tractor, testing certifications and other things.

For example, you could design a lift to pick up almost 3/4 of the weight of the tractor. Just remember that the axles, gearbox casing, clutch, ROPS and everything else needs to be engineered to withstand the force of carrying that much weight. Standing still, no problem. But put that much weight on a moving tractor and you've got a hole different story.

Yeah,I 've thought about that lift capacity a little to but my 5 ft.brushog weighs over 500 lbs,I think,so it handels that,a 5 ft, tiller,I don't believe, weighs that much, those light duty boom poles are rated for 800lbs,I think, plus if you get about that 800lbs,the front end would be light enough to be dangerous,so I'm thinking that I wouldn't want to have the 800 lbs on the back anyway.I have the 25 h.p. and I added 200 lbs of weight to the front,I don't have a loader on the front, so I'd be a little more at ease mowing up hills.Ithink the 25 is only rated about 875 lbs lift.I wouldn't let that part worry you unless you are going to be doing something a lot different than me,which you might be. What are you doing to need more than 800lbs capacity with 20 hp tractor? If you need more you need more tractor.

Like Richard, I haven't come close to exceeding the lift capacity on the 254. KK rotary cutter is the heaviest I've used. I do know a number of people that use the chinese wood splitter, without issues and that runs about 800lbs. A 3pt backhoe (should use frame mounted on such a small tractor anyway) could be an issue along with heavy load on a 3pt pallet fork.

Edit time expired: That should say wood CHIPPER, not wood splitter. Sorry, for any confusion.
