Ok where do I begin, I had a leaking radiator issue to begin with, ok I found out what it was and fixed it (I believe) I have not had the dam thing running long enough yet to find out....I went to my land the other day to start it up and try to get some bush hogging done and battery was dead!!!. Ok I took the battery home (6 miles away) and charged it with a slow 2 amp charge. Ok took battery back the next day put it in tractor and it was a very slow start but it fired up I was good with that. Well got about not that far and the tire just gave out went completely flat and yeah it was not a lot of fun because the tire came completely off bead so I had to drive back home get a jack and so forth....Well I got the tire fixed new tube put the wheel back on and tried to start it...nothing it was turning over real slow and would not start...took the battery to auto part store so they could test it and they said it was cranking out over 900cca and he told me to try it on a slow charge over night, so I did and I got the same results, slow turning over and no start....took battery back to replace it and had him test it again at a different store with a load tester it was fine? Ok I checked all my connections I sanded and made sure the ground was good, I put a new positive wire on it and it still will not freaking start. So I took off the starter and had them bench test it well being that it's chinese and the had nothing to compare it to ((setting wise)) on their machine he picked a ford disel truck to compare to for test purposes on machine..well it tested good...but he said it has no load on it and it could still be bad....so I'm at a loss here...can anyone give me any good advice before I roll the dam thing down the hill into the swamp..it's a jinma 220 disel 2 wd no loader or anything on it just the 3 point stuff...it's a 2001 and it's the. Y380 motor......sorry about the long post...I had to vent lol

One thing that I did do, I noticed I was leaking a little hyd fluid so I not knowing how much fluid it takes filled it up, and I think I overfilled it because oil was dripping out of the filler tube on rear of tractor under the seat lol I noticed it dripped out for a few days !!! Would or could that be part of my issue as well? I have been through the forums and have read some about that.

Start by taking the starter to a shop that rebuilds them and have them go through it. Around here a good cleaning and lube is $25.

A easy way to verify your battery is with a jump start from your truck, ect.

Visible hydraulic fluid at the back of the tractor should have nothing to do with the starting issue. Do you have or can you borrow a multimeter to check cranking voltage at the solenoid? You want to see 11-12 volts at the solenoid while cranking. 9-10 volts makes for harder starting, 7-8 volts will not likely start the engine (lots of clicking). Assuming an otherwise good battery, this is usually a wiring problem. That's not to say the starter isn't in need of cleaning/rebuilding, but let's start with cranking voltage at the solenoid. You want to test DC voltage between the small wire (from the starter interlock switch) and a known good ground.

Hey first thanks for the reply's guys, ok Greg I did not check the voltage first, last night I pulled the starter off and took it down to the battery barn first thing this morning for a check up , that's where I'm at right now with it I'm waiting on the guy to call me to follow up but while he has it I'm going to tell him to go ahead and give it a good cleaning. He tested it this morning while I was there and it was spinning so I guess I will find out, until then I'm going back to the property to work on my fencing for my goats I will try to turn it over manually to see if motor is seized, and I did notice that who ever had it before me unhooked the compression release, I wonder why? and how do I go about hooking it back up lol any input would be awesome and thanks again for your help

Hey Tintman, feel for ya. These are decent tractors for the price IMO; I own a foton 254 which has similarities to yours. Greg is right about the voltage to the solenoid. One thing to test is jump start at the solenoid with the tractor; out of gear of course, to see how it starts. This bypasses all the key and electrical wiring. As for the release, mine has the arm under the key that goes through to the camshaft under the valve cover. It's a mechanical deal when you turn it, it opens one of the valves I believe. I've personally never had to use it. I've turned the flywheel by hand when the starter is out and it's easy to turn. As for the battery being dead, I've done the simplest thing like leave the key on which leaves power to the gauges. Battery dying usually is a short somewhere in the circuit. These tractors in IMO are disappointing with electrical. The ignition key's are not that great either. Guys on these forums are switching over to a ford ignition I thing. Anyways, good luck.

Ok well the mechanic called me and he said that their is a mechanism in the starter that's bad and he can't find no parts to fix it I forgot what he called it but it is what it is I suppose lol. Anyone have a idea what the part number is on the starter so I can buy one? It's the y380 motor 2wd 2001 jinma 220

Call Tommy at Affordable Tractor Sales and he can get ou fixed up with a new solenoid, entire starter or whatever else you might need. His advice is always spot on, too.
