I have a jm 224 3 cyl 2004 mdl. I need to know what oil filter to use. The owners parts list says use 480g-09300. Everything I can findon the web refers to jx0706p,jx0710c or j0810h. I am a little confused. Thanks Robby

I just got my 224 a couple of months ago. I was able to find a Fram PH3985 that fits. If you check around on the site, theres lots of cross reference info.

Hey Robby,

I got an extra oil filter and fuel filter with my 224 Y380T engine tractor. On mine it is a Oil (JX0707), Fuel (HECX 0706).

Personally, I wouldn't use a fram on a Donkey Cart, much less, for an internal combustion motor. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I thought that the Frams were a pretty good filter, until I did some investigating. I only wish that I had known more about the Fram Filters, before I used them for Thousands and Thousands of Miles. For one thing, they only filter down to 40 or 60 microns, depending on the filter that you get from them. I could go on and on, but I guess it is better for me to learn later, than to learn never. Course the OEM filters may not filter very good either, but now,, I just go with OEM, and if the manufacturer gets it wrong, then they are wrong and not me. I probably missed a few beats of logic in that, but for now, I'm sticking with OEM.

Wix and Ac Delco are supposed to be pretty good filters.

But I don't much like to use crossover filters though. But to each his own. If you want the OEM filters, you can get them from JinmaParts.com. PH 866 533 5536. That's what I did and got extra Oil, fuel and Air filters from them.

Have a nice day,

Is the part # of the oil filter on the oil filter? I have looked all over it but no #. Do I need the motor serial # to order oil filters? If so where is it located. Thanks Robby

Usually the number is on the filter. If the filter is painted over, as they usually are, get some acetone and wipe the paint off then you may see the filter number. That's the way mine was.

Hey Robby,

Yes the #'s are on the Filter, However, when they painted the tractor, the filters were also painted. You may be able to use paint remover but that may also remove the # as well.

You should have gotten a tool box with your tractor, that had extra filters, gaskets, tools, etc. If you didn't get the tool box, then you should give your Dealer a call and ask for it. The tool box comes with every tractor as far as I know.

The thing that you have to be concerned with about crossover filters, is not just whether they will fit, but also if the pressure is also the same and also what the filtering capacity is with a particular filter.

I learned my lesson a few years back on my Motorbike, trying to save a little money on my OEM filters and going to a crossover filter, that was supposed to be the same in all aspects. I wound up haveing to do a Top End OverHaul and I am pretty sure it was because of the crossover Filter.

There are some really good Filters out there, Fram is not one of them, but the Correct pressure is just as important.

If you can't get the right #'s off the filter, you can call JinmaParts.com and they can most likely tell you how to measure your filter, in order for them to get you the correct filter.

Have a nice day,
