2013 Jinma 254
It's come to the time of the year to drop the backhoe (which I did over the weekend) and set up the 3-point on my Jinma 254. This is the first time I've done this; it came in pieces because the backhoe was attached when it was delivered. I think I have everything set up correctly, but when I go to attach an implement (in this case a grader blade) the chain that goes between the two lower arms is a few inches too short. In order to get things connected I have to detach that chain. It seems like I'm doing something wrong.

Here's the chain I'm talking about (the one dangling on the ground):

Here's another picture of the overall setup.

Do I need to lengthen that chain, or do I have something in the wrong place?

That chain doesn't go there. In fact, I don't even recognize it as a part of the Jinma TPH hardware. With an implement attached, you need nothing. Adjust the turnbuckles is/when an implement gets too close to a tire in turns. If you have an issue with empty lift arms hitting the tires, tie them together with something more easily removable - like a bungee cord

Some of the Jinma tractors do have that chain, but yours looks to be to short, the reason for this is the adjustment chains on the sides are to tight, you need to loosen them up. You do not have to use that chain when you have implements on. Try loosening the side lower link adjustments and see if that helps.

I think that is exactly what that chain is for, to hold the two arms together when not using the impliment. That with the side arms tensioned tight will hold the arms from swinging back and forth. On some of the jinma's those side bars are telescoping instead of turnbuckles with chain links. This allows the arms to be secured so they do not swing without the need for a cross chain.

When you hang an impliment, just wrap it around the arm and attach it to itself or in another hole untill you remove the impliment...

I did away with my chain long time ago. Like Greg said, use a bungee if needed.

Yep, that chain is for when no implement is attached. Any implement will take care of the appropriate spacing between thelift arms and make the chain redundant, so ust get rid of it and use a bungee when no implement is mounted.

Thanks guys! I'm going to remove it and put it in the spare parts box. There's rarely a time I move the tractor without something attached to the 3-point. I don't often drive it to the grocery store, it usually has a job to do if it's moving. :)

Same here. Maybe 20 times in 10 years. Usually only a issue when pulling a hay wagon or 4000# lawn roller.
