Hi folks,I have a Jinma 254 with a FEL
When lifting my fel the hydraulics seem to be a little jumpy and I have to up the rpm to get the bucket to tilt. Then when I lower the fel I get a lot of oil draining out of the overflow/vent tube located on top of the hydraulic resevoir and I can hear pressure relieving inside the resevoir. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My guess is you have a pump going south or the old Quick Connect problem. The first thing is to remove the Chinese Quick Connects ASAP. These are responsible for 95% of all hydro problems on these tractors. I put in swivel fittings in mine because I don't want the risk of a QC coming loose. Others put in Pioneer or another quality brand QC. You will need 2 swivel fittings or 2 sets of QC to replace them down by the pump/starter area of the tractor. Either way they are standard 1/2" thread. Swivel fittings are going to run you about $5 each and good QC are about $20 per set.

If this does not cure you issues the problem is the pump is getting weak and is not building up the necessary pressure to lift. It is also not drawing enough fluid back in from the reservoir when lowered and allowing it to over fill and spill out the vent. This brings me to another possible problem. Check the Suction Line coming from the reservoir to the pump. Its a hard line about 5/8" OD. Make sure all connections are tight so no air is drawn in. Also, if its equipped with a spin on hydro filter down by the pump/starter area disassemble it and check the bypass valve in it. They were breaking for a while due to poor quality. You will be looking for a white plastic piece.

I would say that the leak on the suction line is the problem. If you were sucking air, that would explain the jumpy ops as the pump spits out pulses of fluid between air bubbles. I had a leak at the pipe union right under the seat. It is way easier to suck in air than lift fluid out of hte tank, so it dosn't take much of a leak on the suction line.

Start with the simple stuff. First, you should never lower the FEL unless the engine is running. Doing so with the engine off will produce the results you describe.

Second, make sure the hydraulic reservior is not overfull. Check the level with the loader and rear lift in the down position and the engine off. Unscrew the fill/vent and wipe the dipstick. Place the dipstick back in the hole, but don't screw it in. Many have only one mark on them, I consider that the FULL mark. I don't add fluid to mine unless/until the dipstick comes out dry.

Third, the jerkiness may be nothing more complicated than a dirty loader control valve. There's one for lift/lower and one for curl. You can clean the one that's jerking, or kill two birds and do them both at the same time.

If none of that helps, we can revisit the issues
