Greetings
I am new here and hope to get a couple of queries answered by the Forums knowlegeable folk.
My tractor is 6 years old, had a pretty easy life, but lacked maintenance.
The transmission fluid is creamy yellow so I suspect water contamination.
No biggie doing a flush, but our first question relates to the nut on top of the transmission which images seem to indicate a copper tube going vertical and curving back down, but the images I have seen are not definitive.
Ours only has the nut with a hole in the top probably allowing the water to do the contamination.
Is this a breather or does the tube go somewhere important?
Under the seat is the hydraulic reservoir. Ours has a observation or filling nut but no dipstick. Should there be a dipstick here to check fluid levels?
If so, can someone please measure their dipstick to let me know how far down from the filler cap the level should be?
The lever to switch to 4WD won't move. I don't want to force it, and it may be the fluid contamination stopping it. Any ideas?
I am pretty sure I will have further queries, but that should do for now as I don't want to push my luck with the helpful people on this Forum.

The hole in the dipstick should have a breather on it ,that may be where your water is getting in. use Shell Rotella 15W40 in the transmission its good for yellow metals,spray WD40 or some type of penetrating oil where the shaft goes into the transmission housing and start working the lever up and down it will free up,do not force it let the oil do the work.You should still have a Dipstick on your hydraulics unless its also using the transmission,some of the Jinmas did.

I had a tractor mechanic around this morning and he freed up the 4WD lever. Unfortunately the tractor does not engage 4WD. He raised the front up on the FEL and spun the wheels individually with no resistance, and the opposite wheel not rotating at all.
Looks like further investigation on hub looseness, front diff or transfer case is called for.
The mechanic also thinks the hole in the top of the nut on the transmission is a breather that should be attached, and suggested just putting a rubber tube off it to under the seat to prevent water ingress.
The hydraulic reservoir for the 3PL has untainted fluid so I assume it is separate from the yellow fluid in the transmission.
All I need now is to find out how far below the top of the filling point the fluid level should be.

I appeciate the offer.
As far as I can see, I have the housing with the sliding valve number 14 on the image (the rod with a hole in it)
If the image works, the items I would need are numbers 10 (2 of them), 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33 and 34.

If available, I wouldn't mind a measurement of how far below the inlet of the hydraulic reservoir the fluid should be.

That valve is for your 3- point lift ? We cannot get the internal parts to that valve ,we do have complete replacement valves. What happened with your 4 x 4 ? That's what we were talking about

Sorry for a slow response but we drove the 650 km each way at my daughters property for a week doing some fencing and she has no internet connected yet.
Tommy, it sounds like the ball bearings you suggested may fix the problem and I will need them. You asked whether I needed anything else so it could be shipped together and that is why I noted the pump parts.
If the individual parts are not replaceable a complete unit would be the next best thing.
Can you get me a price for the ball bearings, the complete valve system and a dipstick, delivered to Waterford West Queensland Australia Post Code 4133?
