I have an 06' w/20 hours on it, so I know it's not worn-out yet :+)) The other day I was using it, pulled the left hand lever back to put the machine in reverse and I had nothing. I then pushed the lever forward, putting the tractor in forward gears and had nothing. I climbed off and looked it over, seeing no problems. I then tried it in reverse again and it seemed fine. I then tried forward again, everything was fine. I drove it less than a quarter of a mile and again, no reverse or forward. No grinding of gears or anything drastic like that. It sems as though the forward/reverse lever (I guess this is called the 'shuttle shift') is out of adjustment. I do not see where to 'fine-tune' this at. Any help ????? Thanks

On my 2006 354, the 4WD lever is pinned onto a shaft with a 5MM roll pin that sheared, allowing me to operate the lever back and forth, but not rotating the shaft. Perhaps this is a similar situation?

Check under the tractor there is an adjustment nut/linkage that came loose on me causing the same type of problem -Ed

Obviously, I'll defer to Ed, who has direct experience. It will be great if it's that simple.

Good luck!

No actually he should be aware of that pin that shears cause it can cause the same type of a problem:) I had forgotten about that issue until you had mention it! BTW did i mention that my son was running the machine (at his in-laws) when it happen? And how muddy it was when I was trying to figure out what the heck was a matter? -Ed

More than likely the roll pin sheared. Hard to explain...... but follow the linkage to where it connects to the side of transmission under your right foot. While moveing the shuttle shift lever you may see that the shaft that comes out of the transmission is not moveing with the linkage..... broke/sheard roll pin.

There are 2- possible locations for a sheared roll pin, the first is on the bottom of the crome engagement lever at the dash, the other one is where the cable attaches to the side of the shuttle shift housing, do as Ronald said follow the cable and watch all the arms as you move the cable to make sure everything is moving with the cable
