Jinma 304 Won\'t rev!!

Hello All,
I was out on the tractor yesterday, I now have 47 Hours on her without issue, and I noticed I cannot get the RPM's past 1800, could this simply be a linkage issue, I have tried both the throttle stick and the foot pedal, 1800 is all she's got.
I have not tried any adjustments, but wanted to check the forum first. Also, what should it red line at?
Thanks,
Rick

Could be fuel starvation, air blockage, or a linkage problem.. check it out at the injector pump.. look at the linkage.. look for slipped parts.. like set screws.. etc..

Could be any of what sound guy said, the 304 if it is the E-3 engine is rated for 2000 rpm.
If the rpm went higher in the past I would change fuel filters before adjusting anything, Just make sure the linkage all the way to the pump is tight and the linkage arm on the injector pump, I did see one spin on the shaft from being lose.

Hello All,
It has never revved over 1800, the Dealer told me it would probably be better as it broke in??? Did not happen! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Also check to make sure your tach is reading correct.
Do this by making sure the tach sending unit on the left side of the bell housing is as close as possible to the flywheel WITHOUT touching it. What RPM's does the tach read when the throttle is all the way closed (Idle Speed in RPM's)?
It should be a steady 600 RPM at idle.

Re: Jinma 304 Won\'t rev!!

Hello,
It is a steady 600 RPM at Idle, also, when I changed all the fluids when new, I did not change out the pump oil nor the fuel filter.
Thanks again,
Rick

Re: Jinma 304 Won\'t rev!!

I've posted on other boards about fuel shut off strainer assembly Jinma puts on their tractors.
When I assembled my crate 354 I removed the tank to flush it and had the strainer shut off valve apart also. I couldn't get any fuel to flow much more than a drip. The holes in that valve were rediculously small. I replaced with a standard 1/4" needle valve and could actually get a stream of fuel to the filter. That was two years ago and I have instant starting powerful good running little engine in all weather in Pacific Northwest. Guys, take a look at that tank shut off valve and see what you think. bjr

Re: Jinma 304 Won\'t rev!!

I posted this before but I figure there is a lot of NEW peps here so I'll say it again.

MY 2002 jinma has the fuel shutoff valve drilled wrong, so that when it is in the NORMAL off postion it is actually ON and when it is in OFF it looks to be in the ON stop. not sure if this was/is a fluke but there were 2 just a like in the load I recieved then.

anyhow only reason I found it was removal to drain the tank of that STUFF that they put in. I don't remember if it was even burnable lol. I spraied it onto some brush to light that and had to add paper to get it burning.

anyhow when I removed the bowl fuel ran out, quickly (I had it trurned to off I though) confirmed it and it kept running. so I turnt it 45 or so degrees andit stopped. after getting a bucket under it and draining it I looked into the opening to see the design flaw.

lol

Re: Jinma 304 Won\'t rev!!

Hello All again,
Well, I went out today and tested a little and found the linkage goes to full position, now I guess I need to change the filter, is there anything I should be aware of, I remember on my little Yanmar 1401 I ran it out of fuel once, and it was a complete Bear to get all the air out of the system. Will I have the same thing again with this one after a filter change?
Thanks all in advance,
Rick

Re: Jinma 304 Won\'t rev!!

fill the new filter.. and remember that you have a primer pump on theis unit... see where it gets you.. may not have to do the full injector bleed and all..
