I seem to continually blow hydraulic fluid out the fill vent under the operators seat, and have to regularly top off hydraulic fluid. Is this normal? I replaced the fill vent with a new one, to no avail.

Sounds like you are sucking air from some place, as it sucks air it turns to foam and displaces the fluid in the tank which causes MORE air... It is self feeding and can cause problems other than just running out of fluid.

Check all the hoses and seals from intake of the pump all way back into the intake strainer inside the sump.

This has been an ongoing issue with some Chinese tractors, and not owned solely by Jinma. The simple solution is to connect a hose to the vent and run it up shoulder high (as you're sitting in the seat) on the ROPS support arm, then put the vent cap on the hose. I suppose you could use transparent vinyl tubing if you wanted to watch the action. The transparent tubing will also tell you if the oil is aerated or not. I also understand that this situation does not occur on level ground.

What Bob has said.
Also, on level ground, the main reason for spitting oil is the system has been over filled. I have it happen on my tractor if I am not careful about putting too much hydraulic oil in the tank.
A couple of pics. of what I have done. The black hose is a relief valve vent line back to the hydraulic tank. The clear hose goes to the top of the ROPS allowing good visual of what is happening when the tractor starts to blow oil out - usually caused by over filling when everything is cold. Once the oil warms up, it expands and rises.

I'm in the overfill group too. Consider the bottom mark on the dipstick to be the full mark. Don't add fluid unless/until the stick comes out dry. And never replace a vented plug with an unvented. This is an self-priming system, and blocking the fill/vent air holes will defeat the purpose. They do however, get blocked up. Twice a year I'd remove mine and blow out the air holes with my air compressor. Unthreaded dipsticks get shoved all the way in and pulled out to determine levels. But threaded Asian dipsticks are meant to be read with the threads sitting on the hole. Don't screw it in and back out to check your level. And always lower the front loader and/or rear lift arms with the engine running. Not doing so will over-fill the hydraulic sump, which is another reasons the vent holes blow fluid..

Is the purpose of doing this to fix the issue or to diagnose what is going on?

As for overfilling, I am well aware of how full to fill the reservoir. I am often running the machine on sloped ground so that may be the problem?

1) Yes.

2) No, but might be interesting to watch. Please re-read my post.
