Does anyone know if there is a Jima dealer in or near central Illinois. Near would be a 3 or 4 hour drive from Springfield. I'm looking to buy a chipper and would feel better picking it up from a dealer. I've read through several posts and searched on the internet but I'm not finding anyone.
Thank's

If you're going to come all the way to VA, you might as well go to Emerybuilt. He's much cheaper. Welcome to Emerybuilt.com!

Its all in how you define cheaper! If you notice at the bottom of Emerybilt's chipper page that price DOES NOT include shipping and freight charges from China. One has to watch the wording.
I have talked to Emery, when you weigh the fact no shipping included and you pay and wait for it to come from China and they do no preservice on them,Rick in your own words you had to put it together and get it working (http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/84439-dr-chipper-reliability.html) for my money I would go with someone like Ranch Hand who assembles them and does a preservice before you take it home like below.
Blades adjusted... they are all out of adjustment
Broken grease fittings replaced
Greased
Belts adjusted
Gear box oil replaced
Check bolts for tightness.... etc, etc
And the fact Ranch hand and some others stock the machines (NO wait) AND STOCK PARTS.
Now to be clear I have never bought anything from Ranch Hand supply, but I know others who have and after doing some research for about 1 year, when I get ready to buy my chipper it will be from Ranch hand supply.
Sometimes cheaper cost you in the long run and the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fine print.
When I bought my 354 with a Koyker FEL and China made hoe it cost me $100.00 more than Emery and the Emery had China FEL and hoe and I had no wait where I bought mine.
I guess I don't like to pay for a meal before I eat it and I find it hard to trust people who have more than 1 web site with different prices

And for the low cost of $50.00 they do what they should do for free.
from their site read the following: Jinma America is Emerybuilt.

Jinma America is now proud to offer our Basic Service package for your new Jinma. For an additional $50.00 we will make sure all fluids are checked including antifreeze, hydraulic fluids, and fuel as well as battery acid. This will ensure that when you receive your new Jinma, it will be ready to go as soon as you are!

50 bucks to check fluids surrrrre they have the best prices, right.
Because Emery is where you buy, does not mean its the best deal out there.

Ouch...looks like I a struck a nerve. Hmmm....I paid $1325 including shipping from China. Maybe you should call and ask what they mean regarding shipping before assuming it's the shipping form China (you need to watch your wording :) It's the shipping to your house from his business in Chesapeake). I spent about 1 hour putting it together and about 1 hour doing the service, and I'm glad I did so that I now know the parts for next time. Did these go up in price that fast? Jim has a point with the wait. It sure did take a long time to get here.

Yep
If you want it NOW out of a dealers stock, it will cost extra. He's fronting the money, it's his floor plan, it's his employees putting stuff together and like it or not that's about $50. 00 an hour Some of the suppliers/mfr's support the dealer system by not marketing on their own, and they should, it's their lifeline. Jinma is in China. They have to deal through importers here in the States. Thats their lifeline. Someone can send them the cash for a container full, they will ship. Realize, you have no appeal to Jinma, your appeal stops at the dealer on this side of the pond. OK, enough economics 101.

For Illinois, you might consider Homier in Indiana. I know, I've heard all the Harbor Freight/ Homier Junk lectures BUT Homier is also Farm Pro and Farm Pro is Jinma or at least some of it is. That should be close to your 4 hours I would think.

When I talked to Emery about a chipper it was #1325.00 plus freight from China. I was going to drive down from PA and pick it up. I was told by the owner ( I called them again to make sure I didn't have it wrong) freight was from China and shipping was shipping to my door plus a 8 to 12 week wait or $1325.00 with a tractor purchase. I would have to pre pay 75% for the tractor and 100% for the chipper.
This is why I didn't deal with them on a tractor, I got 3 different prices from them for the same tractor, 1 when I first called another when I said send me the paper work to order, and when the paper work arrived it was $900.00 more than I was told on the phone.
Rick you didn't strike a nerve with me, I was just stating what I was told by them, I don't really care either way who buy's what where. With good dealers like Affordable, Ranch Hand, Artrac, Circle G, my point is why play the waiting game.
I am glad you got it for the price you did, if your happy that is what counts, but it seems with them (Emery) things change depending who they are talking to. Could be since you are in the general area they held to the price since they are trying to compete with another dealer close by and are pushing for the local market.
Me personally, I would rather pay a few bucks more to a dealer who assembles it and runs it rather than take the chance it has a problem that I have to fix and play the shipping parts game, depends on your budget I guess.
Enjoy your chipper.

I've been watching Ebay and for $1500 or less I could have one shipped to me. That price includes freight. It would just be nice to have someone closer to home to buy from so I could look it over and possibly see or be told things I might not otherwise think of.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. Luckily I had a good one. No changes in pricing, courtious people. It did take quite a long time to get it though.
