Jinma/Nortrack/? in central WI

I've been considering buying a 30hp Nortrack with a loader. I had a chance to drive one at the warehouse where Northern Tool assembles them, and they are a nice bare-bones tractor, which is really all I need for playing in the dirt and making firewood. And a thousand other uses I'll come up with, of course... The only oddity I noticed was that if you went into third gear at low RPMs, you couldn't throttle up. It just wouldn't respond. Starting at higher RPMs in the same gear let you get the full range of throttle while moving.

Anyway, I'm wondering if there is another option for me to consider closer to the Wausau, WI area, since Northern Tool is three hours away.

I have a 2007 Jinma 304 and that is pretty much the situation with mine. You need to give it a bit of throttle before you drop the clutch in 3rd gear if you're stopped. Note that I haven't yet done the head gasket re-torque or valve lash adjustment yet, so that may change, though I rather doubt it. The engine develops its maximum torque at around 1600-1800 rpm, so way down at 600 rpm it isn't going to have much at all and the 304 is a heavy tractor for a 30hp unit. That extra weight makes for really good traction, I can tell you.

A diesel want throttle up under a heavy load.... called lugging. Diesels don't like it.

If you google 'jinma tractor wisconsin', I see a dealer in Rhinelander shows up. And I bet they'd be less expensive than Northern. OTOH, you'd probably have better warranty/support from Northern.

I don't know anything about them, but you're close enough to take a look see. I'd post their info, but I don't know if it's kosher to do that. But google the above and they come right up.
