O.k.

Everyone back to your corners and wait for a ten-count. Come out to the center ring for round two of a clean fight.

I'll sell you my JM with an FEL. All you need to do is get the back-hoe, put dualies, and take out....oh.....I'd say....about a $750k life insurance policy so that you leave your wife and kids a little remembrance money when you flip!

I've got 84 acres and some areas are very sloped. We're talking at least a good 30 degree slope. I had to back-up my 28hp JM up the hills with my bush-hog just to cut the hay. I've been doing this for 2 years and everytime I have to go up those steep hills, I always take a shot of tequila just before and oh yea...bring along a fresh pair of underwear and towel. The underwear because....well.....you get the picture and the towel.....in case I puke. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You're using an 18 lb sledge hammer to drive in a finishing nail. You'll get the job done, but at what cost. Right tool for the project I say.

John, Alpha, and Gbob:

Thanks so much for your thoughtful replies. After looking at two Farm Pros, I've actually pretty much decided against Jinma for a number of reasons.

Sorry to have started a mini-firestorm by asking a few questions; not sure how I gave the impression that I've already made up my mind.

I am considering the Powertrac, but they have not responded to any e-mails sent to them over the last two weeks, so I'm hesitant to buy something I've never seen from a manufacturer who won't talk to me.

So, I'll keep looking for a reasonably price alternative. I have had a chance to run an old John Deere with narrow front through the woods across the "average" slopes without any near-death experiences, but that hardly counts for doing any actual work with it. Wheels are WAY out on this borrowed rig, though.

Bob--I really DO appreciate the insight and advice. I would advise that you don't get so fired up. Not to put too fine a point on it, but I thought I was gathering info & carrying on a conversation.

Don't think I'll do that again.

Thanks, all.

I didn't think I was fired up, I am, however, known for being very blunt.

As for PowerTrac, I have never dealth with them, but I know one thing about the internet and businesses . . . many businesses do not repond to email requests becuase they get inundated with requests from people who are not serious about buying. I would suggest TWO things, #1, call them on the phone. #2, post some questions about their products on the Power Trac forum. The guys on that forum are very knowlegable. I would also suggest you tell them your budget up front so that they don't start suggesting you to move up 3 sizes of machine and blowing your budget out of the water before you even figure out if their stuff will work in your circumstances or not.

Hey John:

No worries. Just watchin' your six. Guys on these forums know from whence they speak.

Good luck,

Just had to put my two cents in. If PowerTrac will not respond to repeated e-mails, I would be concerned. I to am in business and e-mail and internet is the way business is conducted. Phone calls take to much time and voice mail is not to be used if it is urgent. The people I deal with, (mostly engineers) prefer e-mail. It is quick and to the point.

When I was tractor shopping, I sent an e-mail to Kioti asking a question about the usage of an aux. pump or tractor hydraulics for the BH. I received a reply from a service engineer within 5 minutes. That said a lot to me about the company and how they do business.

If PowerTrac has e-mail then they should be monitoring it. At our company e-mails are taken very seriously. You never know who the next million dollar customer might be.
