john deer 425 oil leak

Hi guys i have a jd 425 that leaking oil from the front main oil seal on the battery side of tractor how do i change it i looed up the part on the jd site its cost 4.00 $ but i do not know how to replace is it a diy or do i need to go to mother deer thank art

There is a gasket inside the main engine cover. If its that. Remove front of tractor, muffler, water pump. Then u can unbolt the front cover. While in there u might want to replace a lot of little things like oil pump, governor gear, water pump, a bunch of other little O-rings, and the cam gear if its plastic. There is also a seal around the front pto shaft. Mine leaks there a tinybit. Not worth all the work to change it.
