I have a John Deer 4500, two wheel drive, and a Handy 600 grass cutting bush hall, the bush hall cuts good, like a lawn motor, My problem is when I am driving/pulling the Handy bush motor it not pulling evenly from both sides. The right side is pulling closer than the left side, and the right side is cutting lower than the left side. I am not sure which arm rod to adjust to correct the problem My tractor bush hall hookup has the arm rods that connect to the Handy bush motor, plus two iron rods with several holes that also control the bush motor. Which one do I adjust to get my left side of the bush motor to pull evenly with right. Is it the iron rod with the several holes, or one of the two arm rods that has a square adjusting sleave on each arm??? Do the adjusting sleave on each arm lift up and let down the bush motor? Which way to turn the adjusting sleave to lift up or down? Turning the square sleave up does what? Turning the square down does what? Or is the problem in the iron rod with holes, that is making the bush hall pull slanted? do both sides needs the bolt in the same hole for both sides??

Also What can you tell me about my temp gage on the top panel, after cutting for a while the hand on the gage goes over to the middle on F, is that ok??? I think it is because I may be cutting too low, making the tractor run hotter.

Well now you changed from hall to hull. I figured Handy was a brand, but a search didn't find it.

Tried another search for a brush hog and found an Andy 600 brush hog, is this what you have?

I am with xfaxman, never heard of a Bush hull nor do I find it on the internet other than this post. Don't find Handy 600 by itself either. Makes me think my fingers may have done the typing..

well xfaxman second post I missed till I posted this.

If this is picture of the mower you have it does not "cut" quite like a lawn mower but produces a rough cut and not a finish cut. It is designed for cutting large brush to thick grass and the heavy models will cut small trees.

It sounds like you do not have the 3 point hitch set up correct which is easy to adjust. First if you had a paved drive get on it, then raise the mower just a few inches off the ground. Your tractor probably has a right lift arm you can screw in (can have a crank or some way to turn it) to raise the right side of the mower. I would get it level side to side first. Then with it still low to the ground the third arm which some people also call the top link as it is the highest link between the mower and the tractor either screw it in to raise the back of the cutter to get front to rear level or screw it out to lower the back of the mower.

That should solve you issue. Many people will get this cutter level and then lower it to fully ride on the rear wheels with just keeping the front of the deck off the ground to prevent digging into especially a lawn but wearing out the sides. When you do this the top link or third arm should be still connected but have no real weight on it to allow the mower to follow the land as it is being cut. Now others will tot the full weight of the cutter on the lift for what ever reason (can be good reasons to such as you are cutting over a ditch and you don't want the mower to drop into it.

Yes that is the exact one I have. And I know you know your business, But my Handy cut lower or better than a motor. When I walk back over the grass I have cut, this handy show it has operated like a munch mower, all the grass is cut up real fine. MY Handy 600 need to be adjusted in more on the left in. It pull slanted to the right not evenly. If it is the left lift arm or the left long bar with the holes in it, that you adjust by putting a bolt in one of the holes that must make it pull in closer or extent out . ON the lift arm the square sleave on the arm, what do it do to the Handy cutter by turning it down and by turning it up??? I assume the two arms only adjust the height of lower the cuter on the front of the Handy cutter close to the back of the tractor. These two iron bars on the back of the tractor, with the holes, this may be why my handy cutter is pulling slanted. Do both side need to be bolted in the same hole, if right side bolt is in hole three, do left side also need to be in hole three? Also is there anything you can tell me what to look for as to why my power steering box keep losing power steering fluid, if it not around the box itself, where or what else may be linking? if is not show a heavy link while it is sitting still.

DJP, sure misunderstood your issue and trust do now. Your mower cutting like a mulch mower surprises me, great for you.
On the problem, the left side of your mower is behind the right side is my understanding when you look from the side of the tractor and cutter. If I am correct then the problem could be as simple as the stabilizers on the tractor. No idea if your tractor uses chains or adjustable bars are fixed bars but if it uses chains or adjustable stabiles bars the problem may be there are not adjusted the same. The stabilizers are used to center or to offset an implement as need may be.

If the stabilizers are the same then do look at the mount on the cutter itself. To answer should they be in the same hole form one side to the other check the holes locations and lengths of the mounts with a ruler to be sure they are the same to begin with. If they are would expect they would be mounted the same distance from the front of the mower on each side. Hope helped this time, sorry.
