john deere 1020 gas

New to the Forum:

I am restoring a 68 1020 gas, almost done. I have purchased a new fuel gauge and sending unit, when I hook it up the way I think it should go, it goes to the full mark and stays there.

Not sure if it needs to be grounded or what, the wires were all missing when I purchased it

any help would be great

How did you hook it up? I would expect the sender would have one wire from guage and the other to ground. The guage would have one from battery and other to sender.

I do not know the right way just what I would expect to find. Sorry I cannot help more. Need a wiring diagram.

Typically going to the full mark means it is fully grounded. That is how we check to see if a if a gauge hand is dead or alive.
