Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have one of those small John Deere 1026R subcompact tractors? My cousin's husband is having issues starting the tractor. He has to wiggle the hydro sifter back and forth for minutes until he fines a sweet spot and it will start. It seems like it is getting worst every time he tries to start it. Does anyone know if it could be sensor going bad? Anyone ever experience this same issue?

Thank you!

It sounds like the adjustment is a bit off or the switch itself is defective. Try to lay hands on a manual.

Sounds like that tractor needs cable adjustments and possibly even the electrical wiring is intermittent. He should go online and purchase a mechanics shop manual for that tractor. You buy them as a PDF file.

What is the website that he can purchase the manual at? Is the John Deere parts website or another website?

Thanks!

Search for "John Deere 1026R Service tech manual" and the hits should show up.. there are "make believe" ones available for cheap that don't include all of the info.

My customer has a 1026R with this same issue.
I am replacing the ball switch (#MIA881067).

The MIA881067 superceded to RE12411 on the 1025R which is more common down here. The parts are common between 1025R & 1026R so, since the MIA881067 was available off the shelf and the RE12411 was a delayed shipment from USA and twice the price, I chose to go with the MIA881067 switch.

The new switch was different to the old one in that it has the makers name & JD part no. etched onto the hex flats.

I don't know how the RE12411 differs but if you can get that one I'd say go for it.

There is no adjustment on an MIA881067. It's a ball switch.

Unclip wiring connector.
Unscrew old switch. Stick thumb in hole to stop oil loss.
Remove thumb... Screw-in new switch.
Clip-on the wiring plug.

You need a new o-ring #R26448 as well.
