John Deere 1050 Front Oil Seal & Other Stuff

Your welcome. Looked at this thread when it came up again. I'm a bit puzzled though why all of the other stuff came off, perhaps you were working on something up front there as well. All I did when I changed mine was to pull the drive belt, the pulley, and change the seal ?? My radiator and all of the covers on the front of the engine stayed in place for me ?? Had about a hour into the job not rushing through it. Glad you got it done though. Wondering if my 950 had more room to work on ??

Well, it seemed right at the time to take all of that stuff off... actually, I'm not sure how I would have taken the pulley out without taking the radiator off... I can barely get a socket and wrench in there to turn the crank. Maybe I'm missing something. But, actually I did end up changing a bunch of gaskets which were so baked on the surfaces that it took a long time to get them off.

When I pulled the crank pulley, the old seal came out with it.

Just don't know how to do that job with the fan, radiator hoses in the way???

Anyway, it's done now...

If you're planning to do the wheel seal (I have a leaking seal on the front wheel of my 1050), I would like to see how you did it and what parts would I need? Is this a big job?
