john deere 750
i recently bought a john deere 1050 tractor and i know the previous owner very well and remember when he bought it. the tractor has a john deere 80 loader. everything worked like it should now here is the problem. he wanted to add a joystick control instead of the 2 lever set up it had before. he got a guy to install it and the loader works good but not great, if you lower the loader all the way to the ground it wont pick the front end of the tractor if your trying to pull something out of the ground it takes it a minute but then it will sometimes. it will carry a heavy load but that's about it. Now i have not use the 3 pt hitch until yesterday(i just got the tractor). I bought a heavy duty 6' bush hog the 3 pt hitch wont pick the bush hog up but maybe 2-3 inches in the front the back is still dragging the ground. i guess what im asking and needing help with is if a joystick control was used will that be why the hydraulic stuff aint working? did the guy who installed it not do it right? has anyone added a joystick controller to a 1050 that can tell how the hoses are route and ran to make sure mine are the same way? please i need help!!! thanks for yall help

Most likely the original FEL install was done wrong. What make and model of FEL is on your tractor?

If you are going to be working on hydraulic systems, you need to be very aware of this caution.

First you need to buy a pressure gauge to determine if the hydraulic pump & relief pressure is set correctly. Gauge and fitting cost about $30 at most independent hydraulic shops.

You unplug a quick connector, connect the gauge, full rpm, move control lever to send pressure to gauge and read immediately. Don't keep pressure applied to the system with the gauge.

Without the gauge you are just jumping around hoping you get lucky. Come back and tell us the reading. I see 2030 psi in tractor data

How many hoses connect to the FEL valve Front End Loader valve, 6 or 7? Makes a big difference especially knowing this was not a factory FEL install and many mechanics don't understand power beyond and make connections to the new FEL valve which are wrong and also affect other hydraulic systems on the tractor.

Post some photos as it help us understand your setup.

Do you have power steering? Does the power steering have its own pump or is it fed from the main pump? I see manual steering in tractor data.

If the steering is fed from the main pump, usually through a priority flow valve, it is an important factor to review.

Do you have rear remote hydraulic connection points?

You can get very good help here but be prepared to do some homework and promptly answer questions posed.

I don't know the answer to the question it I have a 950 with the original 2 levers. My 75 loader uses the rear remotes. The 75 loader will easily lift the front of the tractor as a point of reference for you. Just for reference, how is the speed of the loader?

Does that tractor have the hydraulic pump on the front of the engine? I put a joystick on my 2240. The loader was a factory install. What John deere did was tap into the high pressure line from the pump to the lift box. With a T. and piped the return into the filter fitting. I bought a prince joystick with 8gpm flow plus the plug needed to make the valve closed center for the JD hydraulics. My joystick only has 6 hoses. One for power, one for return, and 4 work ports.
My loader is a 148. It works really well with one caveat. The loader and the lift can't be used simultaneously. It's just one or the other at a time. I can carry 2 hay bales with it.

Most loaders will not lift up the front of the tractor from just being lowered to the ground. What you need to do is roll the bucket all the way back, then lower it to the ground. Once touching the ground, roll the bucket forward, as if you were dumping the bucket. Otherwise known as curling the bucket. That curling action has far more force than the lifting action.

7 Hoses on the joystick controller itç—´ a cross brand dv model

So now we know it has power beyond.

You need to make up a simple sketch showing the pump, lines to and from the FEL valve and the 3 pt.

I need to understand where each component, such as the FEL valve, are located in the hydraulic circuit

Can you take pictures of the top of the valve which should have identifiers in the casting to indicate which port is which.

Of particular interest is how the FEL valve supply line gets high pressure hydraulic fluid supplied to it.

Can you please look at this list of hydraulic valves on the Cross Hydraulic's web site and see if you can find your dv model.

Cross sells valves from many companies. Also ones they label as their brand. I cannot find a dv

Products - Mobile Directional Control Valves
Edit I have found the cross DV valve

This is the link to the Cross DV vale spec sheets.

DV is a small part of a much longer identifier. Do you have an order sheet or something which would have the full model

Example DV102ACXYF3P03

I need to know if the valve you have has a regeneration feature

What is "Regen" or the "Regenerative" function of a FEL Valve? Read it here ;)

Regen is a "feature" of most modern FEL (Front End Loader) valves, it's on the Dump (joystick far right) circuit, and is also referred to as "Fast Dump". The reason it is nice to have is that without it, the weight of a filled bucket can actually "pull" the bucket down faster then the fluid can enter the other side of the cylinder, this will create a air pocket and give the bucket a "floppy" feeling until the joystick is held in the dump mode a few seconds to refill the cylinder pushing the air past the seals. So we add "regen" or "regenerative" function to the valve.

Regen solves this problem by actually filling both sides of the cylinder at the same time with hydraulic fluid. But how will that work you might ask? Well, because there is more volume on the side of the cylinder that extends it since the rod is taking up space in the other side, it "overpowers" the rod side and lets the cylinder extend-thereby dumping the bucket. So since now both sides of the cylinder are "pressurized", the air pocket can not develop, eliminating the "floppy" bucket syndrome. One other added bonus is that the bucket actually dumps faster due to the higher flow rate required to do all this, that's why it's referred to as "fast dump" sometimes.

So, now you may be asking “This is cool and all that, but why do I need to know about it?” The answer to that is simple, if you ever try to run a snow plow with two SA (single acting) cylinders, or a cylinder that drives a chute rotator on a snowblower you will soon find out that they won’t work if you push the joystick to far right in the regen mode. The plow won’t work because since both lines are pressurized-both cylinders will be trying to extend at the same time binding everything up. The rotator won’t work because there is no weight pushing the cylinder closed like there is on the loader.
On most, if not all John Deere tractors there is a “lockout” the limits how far the joystick travels to the right to keep it out of the regen mode.
