I have a pretty good running tractor, except for a burning oil issue and the other one is restarting when hot. I think the problem is a low compression but I want to see what we all can come up with. Ok, so it uses a bit to much oil and I can see smoke as I cut. The second thing is when I shut it off hot it will not restart until 30-40 mins after it has cooled down. I have noticed a lower power at higher speeds. Am I on the right track?

Sometimes hard re-starting when it's hot can be caused by a dirty air filter. Hot engines don't like to be choked. Probably not the problem in your case but it only takes a moment to check it. If the filter is clean, then you're probably on the right track. Some oil in the chamber tends to ****** normal combustion.
