110 John Deere Loader - backhoe
Approximately 6 years ago, we purchased a John Deere 110 Backhoe/Tractor, brand new for
$72,000. We look after that machine to the letter of the manual and have since it arrived in our shop lot. Our problems began with only 30 hours of working time on the machine. The tie rod end fell off and had to be replaced. Since then, there is a list of things we've had to repair;
the front end has been replaced 3 times
all the hoses on the machine have been replaced at least once
drained and flushed the hydraulic system at least 5 times
the lift cylinder was repaired 2 times and a one had to be purchased the third time
has had a constant intermittent problem... would start and run and suddenly stop and was immovable
From the time of purchase until August 30, 2014, there were only 2200 working hours on the machine.

I'm looking for repair manuals; service manual...ANYTHING that will help us diagnose whatever the issue is now. We've had water in the fuel, and currently the machine will start but will not move forwards or backwards. The loader and the backhoe appendages work but nothing else. HELP!!!!

try a title search under "110tlb" notice the lack of a space between the 110 and tlb. there are several posts about transmission issues, usually caused by the flywheel sensor. this is a comment I copied from one of them:
Guy came this morning and in a grand total of about 16 seconds replaced the flywheel sensor.

Problem solved. The explanation I got was that these tractors have the Loadmatch built in and undefeatable. So when the flywheel sensor doesn't know what the motor is doing, activates the Loadmatch capability. In my case if the flywheel sensor says 2500 RPM and then 1/4 second later it says 800 RPM it kills the forward motion, 1/4 second later we're 2000 RPM and I am requesting full forward still, I get full forward. And an exciting ride.

so maybe if the crank/flywheel sensor is not reading correct value it is causing your issue....

how/what is your machine used for? that seems like a lot of hours for personal use...

Both the Parts Catalog, and the Technical Manual are available on CD. I bought mine about a year ago from John Deere (I would not recommend getting them from a secondary source). Since the machine is discontinued, I would strongly recommend getting these CDs while they are still available.

I don't remember the exact cost, but for the pair it was more than $100 (US) and less than $250 (US).

I had a problem with something (don't remember exactly what), and the advice I got on TBN was spot on.

Mine is very close to the same vintage as yours, and I consider it to have been remarkably trouble-free. I have fewer hours on mine, but it has never let me down.

Post a clear, well written, description of one problem at a time and you will probably get good answers right here on TBN.

I really don't think water in the fuel is a JD problem. There is a water separator which must be drained periodically. This is maintenance.

Owned mine several years and the only issue and one that made gave me that sinking feeling was when it would not move except with the creep mode.

I called Deere and they said to bring it in or they could send someone out based on travel, time and materials.

Did a little research and found my problem might not be a 10k overhaul and instead a $40 sensor.

Boy was I glad it was the $40 part held in place with a single bolt!!!

Tractor By Net is a tremendous resource with plenty willing to help just for the asking...

On a side note... when I was considering buying the 110... CurlyDave shared his 110 experience and answered all my questions before buying.

Any news on your 110TLB? I looked up the code you referred to in one of your earlier posts and could not find a listing for it in my Technical Repair Manual. At least in HST section.
