John Deere 110TLB
I'm new to owning and running TLBs, and most of my experience running hoes has been on mini-excavators.

Is it normal for the 110's hoe to lose flow/control of the boom up function while crowding in while digging?
I seem to also lose swing when crowding in which isn't really a big deal for digging, more when clearing.

Everything else runs fine, it digs pretty good, so I'm leaning towards it just being how the machine runs.

The problem is I instinctively start pulling the boom up control more and more since it's not doing what my mind wants it to do, then when I release the crowd/stick in control the boom flies up on me because the control is pulled so far in. I'm trying to get used to it and out of that habit. Low effort moves they both seem to be able to move at the same time pretty well.

Thanks for you help from a new 110 owner. There are 2200 hours on the machine.

What engine speed are you running. Hydraulic pump flow is a function of pump speed. You may just be running the engine too slow to develop enough hydraulic flow th run more than one function at at time.

I was running the backhoe around 1600-2k rpm depending on what I was doing. Should I be higher?

I致e had a 110 since about 2004. The swing is the only function that I think is lacking. But I generally run it around 2200 or a little higher rpm. Try higher engine speed and see how much difference is noticeable.

Construction equipment is designed to run right up agains the governor, on the overrun curve..

That means WOT, in generic terms.

Practically, most run only as much engine speed as required to do the work, simply because it痴 quieter that way.
