John Deere 110TLB Advice

I have been looking at getting a full size dedicated TLB as some of you may know in complement to my current 3120. Would you recommend trading in my 3120 and getting a 110? I found the one below. Looks pretty good except I think the dash unit was broken off.

I replaced my deere 4310 for a new 110TLB , I think in 2008 . My 4310 had 300 hours on it with the hoe and set of forks and they gave me what I paid for it on trade plus I think 10 or 15 percent off MSRP. The 4310 was three years old at the time. Long story short I love my 110TLb would not give it up for the world ! I use it at home on job sites and even my subs that operate large equipment grab my 110tlb and are amazed on the ease of use and what the machine is capable of doing.

The machine looks in the pics like it has been used hard for the 1300 or so hours on it. You may want to look at new if you can swing it. After a 110TLb the only next step is a track hoe to do any real big digs. If you are using the hoe more than the loader and want something small you can buy a minitrack hoe used and keep your tractor for the loader portion of work. The 110TLb compared to my 4310 gave me a better hoe and more loader lifting plus the three point hitch for a box blade the reason I purchased it. I use the fork to unload heavy steel and skids also.

I have seen some 110Tlbs with 400-600 hours in the same price range I would keep digging .

This is just the closest to my house. Others near me where either a lot more or a lot farther away. Unfortunately I'd be stretching my budget trading in my tractor and getting the 110, let alone get a new one.

How well does the loader and backhoe work? How strong is it?

I've had my 110 for almost 4 years and close to 1,000 hours, now. Have rented track hoes and small tractors for the past 15-20 years before I bought it.

Based upon my uses - I'd compare the loader to being very close to Bobcat S250 capabilities. The 110 won't lift the same weight as fast as the 250 and it won't move as quickly and dump, either. But, it'll "git er done"! The Bobcat has more hydraulic GPM; so, everything is faster - but, in terms of pounds of lift and carrying capacity - it doesn't have much on the 110 loader.

The hoe is on a par with the breakout and lift of say; the JD27 trackhoe. Maybe competitive with even the JD35. Here again, I'm talking about the ability to break something out and root up material and lift it up. No comparison with the speed of the trackhoes to dig, lift, spin and drop. The 110 does not have the hydraulic GPM or structural design to even begin to compare to the speed at which a small hoe will tear things up!! But, the 110 will dig up and tear loose and lift a root wad every bit as big as the smaller trackhoes.

And I've never, ever seen a Bobcat rake and tedd hay... or a trackhoe turn a rototiller...

I hate seein' mine get older and more hours on it - 'cause I can't go out and buy a new one!

New 110's can still be had, there is still inventory on dealer lots, probably some pretty good jd cash available. I would atleast have your dealer check into a new price for you on a unit may be better than you are expecting. Most dealers will allow transfering of equipment and Deere will probably even pay the freight.

How does the process of removing the backhoe and putting on a 3PH attachment work. Should I make sure that the dealer has the arms or do they just stay on. I will be needing them, how much do they cost if the dealer doesn't have them?

Arms are not part of the base machine. You had to get them seperate so you will want to hash that out ahead of purchase for sure. Also make sure you are looking at other options you may want. The 3 rear remote aux setup was factory install only as well as loader aux hyd and 7 function hoe hyd if they are things you would want later. Also 2 types of hoe bucket hookup, pin on (I think the same buckets as the Deere ss hoe att for pin on) and the quick coupler style (the same as 35d minix, among others).

Is it true the 110 is no longer in production? I still get flyers once in a blue moon on advertising new ones.. I was thinking about trading up to get the thumb on the hoe,that was the only option that I can kick myself for not getting. I got the rear valves for the top-n-tilt on my box blade and highly recommend the option.

I may well be wrong with this, but I believe that as of Sept, there were 8 new units left for sale. That is what my local JD dealer told me when I was asking about the 110 that they had. They could not sell theirs even with a HUGE discount. It ended up going back to JD.

If I remember correct, the 3pt hitch runs about a grand.
