I have an 85 JD 112L that was given to me by my father in law. When i got it, it was missing the hydro drive belt, so i put one on, and when started it initially would barely move. After letting it run for about 10 minutes, the trans worked with no issues. I mowed with it half a dozen times, and the last time i mowed, when i was almost done with the yard it started having the same issue. It moves, but very slowly. So i parked it for the winter. This spring, i got it out and drained the tranny fluid, which you could tell definitely needed to be changed. I got more fluid from JD, but when i went to put the new fluid in, some of the old fluid was still filling up the filler neck. Can someone tell me what i am missing here? Any help is appreciated!

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in but some of the hydrostatic transmission won't drain all the fluid out because it is compartmented. It may need to be removed and turned over to fully drain and refill. By the same note make sure you get the correct amount of fluid back in it too.
