John Deere 1959 830

Got the 830 out of the barn for the first time this year, will be driving it in the home town Labor Day parade on Mon.

A buddy of mine had one of those. I disked wheat ground for him in the Fall with it, back in the 70's, and early 80's.. A rod cap came off of it when he was chisel plowing with it. The crank drove the rod down through the bottom of the crankcase. It sat for a good many years. Sold at his estate auction, and was bought by a friend, where it sat for another 6-8 years untouched. Last year, a close friend of ours bought it, with plans to restore it. Can't wait to hear the ole' girl run again..!!

Stopped by a plowing day this past spring and watched an 830 pulling 5 or 6 bottoms - deep and with no apparent effort at all.

The low rpm made it sound like engine was at super idle.... enjoyable to witness again.

as an aside note, my father worked on/for Deere's first diesel project from '36 - '49 when the model R came off the assembly line in Waterloo, IA. Lived to 91, so diesel fumes didn't appear to cause him any problems.. just sayin.

Here's a pic from a couple yrs ago.In 2011 this tractor was completely submerged in flood water(upstate NY 100 yr flood), towed to my house where I spent the next month and a half draining, flushing, cleaning and finally got it running again.
